I’m new here but wish to express deep sadness for your loss.
My GF was killed by a drunk driver a few yrs ago and I had the same feeling of wanting to let the S.O.B know 1/2 of the pain I was feeling. Condolences.
At the memorial service a family member said that my friend’s kidneys and liver were donated, so “three families are having a better Christmas than us.” That was nice, under the circumstances. Those of us who knew him also got a good laugh over the thought that someone is getting a “strong, well-exercised liver”. Other donation information to come. For example, donating corneas may not be life-saving, but they are life-changing, and life improving.
No news on the scumbag driver yet (and I know exactly what “scumbag” means, thankyewverymuch!). The family has been following up with the cops. Hell would be worth it if I got to contribute to the torture of that pig smegma, even if I suffered too.
In the meantime, writing in The Pit is still a catharsis I need. On the other hand, the positive and kind support I’ve gotten from my fellow 'Dopers has been very helpful to getting me through this mess. Thank you!
