I pit all the phucking phonies who post shit and then "apologize" for it

You’re right. It’s not at all like when GWB’s two daughters got caught underage drinking and flashing their lady parts. Why, I remember as clear as bell Democratic staffers calling Bush unpatriotic because his daughters were acting like…gasp…teenagers! Thank Og for the 22nd Amendment or I would have had to move to Canada for the shame of it all!

Fine, but you’d have to spell your name with a Zed, none of this liberal Zee business.

Said another partisan fucktard. :stuck_out_tongue:

Politics has precious few rules of engagement at this point, and it’s a terrible thing. One of the few remaining rules is that you don’t attack the minor children of your political opponents: you leave them out of the game. It’s a good rule. Some jerks broke it with the Bush girls, and those jerks were the worst. Now Lauten has broken it. The price she’s paying is appropriate.

Well, I pit coming into THIS thread and being a fucktard yourself just to prove a point/score a point/ whatever the fuck in another thread that readers here may or may not have read. Who’s the fucktard now?

dupe post

It looks like a word for Vietnamese sex. Which I could get into, if it doesn’t involve lots of cilantro.

Oh, you’re allowed to do that. I said the same shit about Bush 43. The difference is I was right, but still, she’s allowed to say Obama doesn’t respect the nation.

Telling them they should dress better and not make faces during the turkey ceremony strikes you as “pretty harsh”? Well, OK, but I don’t see it.

Because the notion that they should be acting respectful during a ceremony where the President pardons a fucking turkey is more than a little dumb. Or get all dressed up for the occasion. I sympathesize with the daughters - I am sure half the times they have to attend ceremonies would bore any normal person to tears, let alone a teenager. And the turkey pardon tradition goes beyond meaningless into stupid. It’s a turkey - you are supposed to eat it, not let it live out its golden years with Old MacDonald.

But firing someone for Facebook comments where she tells teenagers not to act like teenagers seems a little extreme. YMMV.

Regards,
Shodan

It was the part about “looking for a spot at the bar” that put it over the top.

That would be a rather generous precis of her remarks.

[QUOTE=Elizabeth Lauten]
“Dear Sasha and Malia: I get you’re both in those awful teen years, but you’re a part of the First Family, try showing a little class. At least respect the part you play,” Lauten wrote in the post.

Lauten, however, had some advice for the First Daughters, imploring them in the Facebook post to “stretch yourself…rise to the occasion” and “act like being in the White House matters to you.”

“Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar. And certainly don’t make faces during televised, public events,” she concluded.
[/QUOTE]

Accusing a 13 year old of showing a lack of class and dressing “for a bar” is pretty harsh, yes. Especially considering there was nothing wrong with what they were wearing.

Again, that is hardly all she did. Anyway, she’s a congressional (or was a) communications director. Not saying stupid shit on Facebook is one of the qualifications for the job. If she was a welder for General Motors, I would agree.

It’s clearly more than that, 'dan. The whole point of addressing the girls was to set up the ‘Barack & Michelle are crummy role models’ line. As BudgePlayerCadet pointed out, she was just using the kids as a flog to beat their parents with. That’s psycho cold.

If one of the girls was a fatty, would it have been ok to deliver, “Lose some weight for God’s sake! But judging from the looks of your well-fed mamma’s booty you probably don’t even know what fresh vegetables are.”

Yeah, yeah… everybody’s equally guilty, lamestream media, etc.

IOW, DNFTT

Which would probably make us all a little better off. Moron of insignificance rants imperiously about nothing, wfc? Let them shout into the void, let the void swallow their cries with indifference.

I don’t see why everybody is getting their underwear in a bunch. She didn’t like the kids manners, she groused about it…hardly a war crime.

I say that everybody who had a problem about her is a piece of shit. A woman pisses and moans, and she loses her job?? Fuck everybody who complains about her.

She lost her job in politics because she demonstrated one of the worst political senses seen around Washington in years.

Exactly. There is an agreement in the Washington political world that you do NOT do that with the minor children of officials, if you are one or work for one. You leave that to Talk Radio blowhards and partisan hacks outside. Improper to do it using Sasha/Malia, using Trig or Bristol, using Babs/Jenna, using Chelsea or Amy.

The Bush twins were considered by some people a fair target because technically they were not minors, although *below *the drinking age, when they partied a little too hearty. But it still was entirely unfair. Teenagers are teenagers and pretending that if you’re President you must be able to de-teenagize them is silly.

I dunno about that - what she did is about as petty and stupid as numerous other comments about Obama and his family. She went, at most, a teeny tiny bit further.

you are wrong and unpleasant

[del]grendell was right![/del] [del]Down with the geatts![/del]

Sorry, don’t know what came over me.

I’d heard there was some snit going on, but had no idea what this tempest in a teakettle was about. Pleated miniskirts? That’s the issue?* Oy vey.*

Yeah, I can see why she thought she could get away with that bit, but fashion/body policing of young women is a trigger for some people.
