I Pit Amazing Grace Baptist Church

You know what happens when we assume things!

Especially in the Pit.

It’s irrelevant. It means as much to me as saying “says ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’”.

It’s a sin because the Bible says so, and the Bible says so because it’s a sin, right?

(Note – I have nothing against the Bible in general)

Which is why I hesitate to tell others that I’m a Christian (and even more hesitation to share that I go to an evangelical church), it is associated with too much baggage in their minds, and people start to think “Oh, you’re a Christian who goes to an evangelical church! I know what you believe!” no you bloody well don’t! All you know is that I call myself a Christian and that I go an evangelical church! That’s it!

I don’t agree with all the policies of my church (part of the reason I don’t take out membership there), heck, I haven’t found a church anywhere that agrees 100% with my beliefs, but going to church is important to me so I go. (Also, part of me just loves to argue precepts the church believes in that I think are utterly ridiculous, can’t argue points I disagree with in a church where I agree with everything, now can I? I guess that’s the Doper in me.)

For the record, I believe in homosexuals getting any right and freedom they want because they’re human beings and are entitled to it as a result (including marriage); I believe in complete gender equality; I don’t believe the earth is 6,000 years old; and I believe in evolution. None of these is what my church believes in, and I’m positive that when I tell others that I’m a Christian (with or without adding the “attends an evangelical church” part) there are those (probably “most”) who automatically assume I don’t believe the above.

Can you provide evidence to support those assertions?

You must have FAITH!! Curtis says it’s easily proven, and you must trust him! He knows better than all of us sinners.

First of all interracial sex can easily be proven as sinful as 1) sex outside marriage is sinful and 2) marriage is only meant for one man and one woman of the same race.

Nothing about miscegnation? Damn liberals.

Evi-dence? Evil-dents? You want to batter him with evil! Temptor! Temptor! Get thee behind him!

Isn’t that what started this whole mess in the first place?

Congratulations, I now have one of the songs from Monty Python’s “The Background to History” stuck in my head.

ETA:

No, getting is fine. It’s coming that’s the problem.

no, because he likes his assertions/asser-shuns/he shuns people who go for the ass.
