Having been a sexually repressed Catholic schoolgirl, I say that there was no harmony and appreciation in it at all!
You’re an idiot. Learn to fucking read.
Waits for the people to commiserate.
I clarified what I meant. If you want to keep arguing the pre-clarification argument then there’s nothing to be said here.
Who’s the first one? Rawr.
I have no idea. My guess is that she’s just a random girl who submitted her picture to that site.
In a valiant efort to find the identity of this young woman, I went to the homepage of the site hosting her picture and came across (pun definitely intended) this. I am becoming a fan of that site very quickly.
Yeah, I noticed that. Honestly, what I think about that article is that there’s no hope for forgiveness unless you stay in a marriage that isn’t working. I mean, no matter if you divorce, remarry, or just live together, you’ve sinned and you’re basically screwed. (Pun intended.)
He mentions Malachi 2:16, and he says it states simply, “I hate divorce.” Well, in the KJV it’s not that simple, but that would be the general meaning of the first part of the verse. But that was before Jesus. God hates all sin, but all sin can be forgiven if it is asked because of the blood of Jesus. The question then is, is this a sin?
I feel God gave us a brain so we can make good decisions. The God I follow would not hold it against a person for leaving their spouse due to domestic abuse, for example. The brain God gave the person was used when they fled the situation. God would not make that situation worse by saying, “But he/she is your spouse: if you don’t stay with them you are condemned to Hell.” Some marriages should not happen in the first place. I can’t see God holding that against anybody.
Sorry for the ramble. The article was well-researched, but because of my particular faith, I cannot bring myself to agree with it at all.
Heh. My uniform was nowhere NEAR like that. (Of course, I was thirteen when I graduated, then I went to public school. Our’s were butt-ugly)
I was raised Catholic, and I’m now lapsed. However, for awhile now, I’ve been wanting to go to Christ Hope Church. Basically, it was founded by an excommunicated priest – who happens to be a cousin of mine – when he started advocating for married and women priests. This is basically their philosophy. I think #14 applies to our friend Curtis.
Oh, and Equipoise, this is just a pet peeve of mine – but nobody really thought that the Earth was flat. They did, however, at one time believe that the Sun revolved around the Earth!
This’ll be the last post I make in this thread. However I shall keep this thread as proof of how assholish and intolerant some atheists and “gay rights” advocates are compared to fundamentalists at least on the Internet. Check out the Christian Forum’s Fundamentalist subforum for comparison.
The only “anti-gay” measure I might vote for a bill against gay marriage. I support domestic partnerships which is basically marriage except the title which has satisfied virtually everyone except extremnists who distract us in more pressing issues. Just have domestic partnerships and let the issue die!
What about Billy Graham? Do you think he is going to Hell? Or Moses who wrote the Leviticus laws which condemn all sorts of things and make it punishable by death.
You do not understand. I do not hate homosexuals nor any other type of sinner and neither obviously does God.
The former; I don’t care soldiers are homosexual or not.
However the Bible has nothing to say about the above two while God has said all men and women are spirtually equal before Him.
Jesus did approve of divorce for adultery.
There are sinners because it is human nature to sin.
Yep, dude, you are a shining star of tolerance. You are like the Rudolph of generosity and forgiveness. Quick, hide your light under a bushel before the abominable gets here.
I don’t have time to hunt down a ton pictures right now, but I just want to ask that if the OP is going to bow out, does this mean the topic can officially be changed to something more fun?
jsgoddess: It sounds like you were going to the wrong school if your uniforms looked nothing like the scholarly works I’ve linked to.
Oh bullshit, Curtis – EVERYONE is judgmental. Every single human being. Anyone who says they’re not is a fucking liar.
Perhaps people are “intolerant” of being called sinners and threatened with hell, ever think of that?
Everyone’s mistaking me for other people today. I didn’t say that about the uniforms.
As Pops Mercotan used to tell me, “Never let your beliefs keep you from doing what you know is right!”
[sub]Pops was a bit of a contrarian, but with style[/sub]
Well would you look at that! :smack:
So Guin, you totally were going to the wrong kind of Catholic school.
Oh hell no. It’s not going to die, so you can suck it. Gays and straights alike who support equality aren’t going to give up the fight and some snot-nosed little punk bigot isn’t going to change their minds. What’s it to you anyway if someone you don’t know gets married to someone they love?
Uh, read my lips. I don’t think ANYBODY is going to hell because I don’t believe in hell. I was having fun with the thought that bigots and idiots would go straight there.
Then why do you think that homosexuality is a sin?
Well, there’s hope for you yet.
“God” didn’t say diddly squat, but those who heard voices in their heads sure had a lot to say about a lot of matters.
Bye
Yeah like that stupid, Amazing Grace Baptist Church. You’re way’s quite obviously ‘the right way’. You have all the answers. Better run back to your, more tolerant, fundamentalists.
I can’t resist posting once more.
How about if we just let the states decide?
I mean do you imagine yourself with Rev. Graham and Moses going to Hell?
YOU SIMPLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND DO YOU? THINKING SOMEONE IS SINNING DOES NOT EQUAL I HATE SOMEONE!!! HOW MANY FREAKIN’ TIMES MUST I SAY THAT FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND!!!
[/QUOTE]
Neither did Paul or Peter or any other person in the NT.
If you hate what they do and what they do is an integral part of their being, what are you saying about them?
As an analogy, suppose I said, “I don’t hate men, I just hate that men have penises. Having a penis is a sin.”
There, you can’t claim that I hate men, I just hate that men have penises. There’s something they could do to fix that, after all.
But wait! Penises are something men are born with! Surely I can’t decide that something someone is born with is a sin… Oh, wait. You have decided exactly that.
penis haz a sad
Aw, I didn’t mean it!
Dopers, am I wrong, or doesn’t this ALWAYS happen?
Well, it was K-8. So I don’t think you’d want to see the “sexy school girl” there. Although, Cesario might.
