The OJ verdict was 20 years ago right about now, and that station’s acting like everyone and anyone nowadays cares. Hour-long specials, interspersing it with the regular news, etc.
Or do we?
Back when the trial was going on, Newsweek mentioned that the sequestered jurors had all their media censored to remove references to OJ, and a letter writer asked where he could subscribe to that service.
On a less humorous note, when the Oklahoma City bombing happened, my first thought was, “So, how long will this knock OJ off the top of the news?” The answer? Two days. :smack:
I’d rather watch FoxNews than CNN – at least one can enjoy some recreational outrage! I have been curious about that Malaysian airliner though; does CNN have an update on that?
Have others also noticed that, very often, when pursuing a story about something relevant going on in the U.S.A., the breaking coverage comes from a British newspaper? :smack:
Yep, definitely noticed it. Most with the Daily Mail, which is a tabloid, but they’re often there first and with the best and most detailed information on major news events in the U.S. But read the celebrity blurbs and you’ll get so tired of phony references to toned abs, toned pins and pert bottoms that you’ll want to pull your hair out.
First, yes. Best, not even if God was rewriting world events to conform to what the Daily Mail was reporting. It’s the UK version of the New York Daily News: it puts the “yellow journalism” in “yellow journalism.”
Certainly. But the fact they’re a tabloid doesn’t necessarily mean everything they write is bullshit. They obviously expend a fair amount of money and effort to report thoroughly and correctly about major news events in the U.S. Just about anytime something major has happened here they’ll have a lot more factual detail about what happened, the names of those involved and more and better photos than we see here in the U.S.
