I Pit damuriajashi and DemonTree

You make damn sure to make sure that no one misses your idiocy and hatred.

Don’t you have your own pit thread to shit in? Why you gotta try to take attention away from the posters of honor in this one?

Steophan has never been big on actually backing up his arguments with facts, especially when he’s slandering other posters. He’s allergic to cites, it would seem.

Because it doesn’t exist, you lying fuck.

I definitely missed it, and I would enjoy some citations for illustration.

Or at least some basis for evaluation. Is the “homophobia” less or more offensive than someone repeatedly blaming Tamir Rice for his own death?

Steophan?

This thread was originally titled something like “disingenuous and bigoted posters”, it wasn’t supposed to honor damuriajashi and DemonTree specifically.

I don’t remember the exact title I wrote, either. But it was people who were both.

However, it didn’t occur to me that Steophan was just providing an example.

“Blatant” does not mean “nonexistent”.

Oh jesus christ! Take your rules lawyering and shove it up your arse where it came from, you racist troll.

Yes, how dare he come in and call @Steophan a disingenuous racist! Such trolling!

So you can find this Pit thread, but not your own?

So now YWTF has come back. She tried to get away with violating her topic ban in the Pit first.

But then she’s decided to come into ATMB and simultaneously arguing that bigotry against black people made it difficult to post here, but whining about not being able to discuss her bigotry against trans people. She complains about echo chambers, while she’s the one who kept repeating lies from TERF echo chambers, despite us debunking each one. And she’s the one who engaged in full on bigoted harassment by mocking someone’s suicidal tendencies, saying they were fake.

She claims “women” are being silenced and not transphobes. Just like a racist claiming that white people are being silenced.

This is why I wish the thread was still entitled “Disingenuous bigoted posters.” It was never about particular posters. Just a pattern of how bigoted posters want to make themselves out to be the victims, pretending they’re on the side of roses.

Agreed that they succeeded in derailing the thread to being all about her and those of unpopular opinions being silenced. I had a long post in the thread previous, and realized it wasn’t going to help since they (and others to be clear) were more trying to fight their personal battles rather than improve our population and demographics. And then I slapped an ignore on them.

I’ll take a minor echo in my ‘hearing’ over a loud siren of hate and an opera of smug self-importance, thank you very much.

From what I can tell, that thread title should be fine as long as it doesn’t mention specific names. I believe those two posters’ names were in the original title, as your OP was about them. Our rule is against putting a pejorative in a thread title that is about a specific person, but you can start a thread about general forum misbehavior and then mention people in it.

Case in point: we still have a thread about trolling that mentions lots of people. It talks about trolls right in the title. A thread simply called “Disingenuous bigoted posters” would be no different if you didn’t mention specific people in that title.

Thing is, I proposed alternative titles to @Miller (per his request) that didn’t mention any posters’ names, and he didn’t take me up on any of them. And you don’t really see any other thread that do that beyond the troll thread.

That said, maybe this is a misunderstanding on my part.

I believe the reason that this is a problem is the way the software works, that if you reference a non-Pit thread in the Pit, the non-Pit thread links back to the Pit showing the thread title. So if I started a pit thread titled “Atamasama is a poopyhead”, I could make that line appear under any of your posts outside the Pit.

It seems to me that it could still be problematic even if no name is mentioned in the title.

This was precisely the issue. The problem with “I Pit bigots on the SDMB” as a thread title is that, the way the board software works, you could create that thread in the Pit, link to a thread outside the Pit, and effectively circumvent the rule against insulting people outside the Pit.

The troll hunting thread obviously has this same problem. But it’s also a very popular, long running thread, that adds genuine value to the board in helping bring attention to potential trolls, so we grandfathered it in, rather than close it, or rename it to something that didn’t describe its contents. But it’s a conscious exception to the general rule about naming Pit threads.

I thought that was the other, other reason to not include working links in said thread, both to not lead trolls back AND to prevent such backhanded accusations. Which is why I always break my links.

But glad to know it has the additional consideration. Honestly, while I love the title, I could bear to lose it if it became too much of a point for various entities.

Fair enough.
