I pit DrDeth

Lead baboon with a basoon!

yeah. That all sounded so reasonable. Photos of naked children that weren’t sexual in nature were found to be innocent.

I’m sure it was disconcerting. I think I mentioned in another thread that I have a friend who:

  • Lost a child to an unexpected siezure
  • Had CPS come in, guns blaring, to take their other child into protective care while they were investigated
  • Were found to be innocent after the autopsy showed the cause of death
  • Were reunited with their remaining child.

The separation was scary and painful for the grieving parents, and probably for the kid, too. But no injustice took place. The system worked.

With guns blaring? Like drawn weapons and police officers? How is that the system working? They could have walked in and explained themselves.

Armed police officers were present, but they explained themselves, is my understanding. The parents were pretty freaked out. At this point, the parents didn’t know why their son had dropped dead; they, too, learned that from the autopsy. They just knew that he said, “it’s happening again”, went to bed, and never got up. (He’d had minor seizures before.)

That makes much more sense than “guns blaring”. I was picturing a near shootout.

Since we already nitpicked “lead,” it’s “guns blazing” not blaring.

That’s the idiom, sure, but guns are pretty loud so if they’re being fired, they’re definitely blaring.

Though “blazing” often just means that the guns are being brandished, not fired, so regardless of idiom the term “blazing” is probably more correct. Unless the police knocked by shooting holes in the front door. I hope not, that kind of behavior is sternly frowned upon in most jurisdictions.

Like the Hindenburg? (((too soon?)))

Fair enough.

And i don’t think any guns were drawn. Just having them in the room was threat enough.

So, they were neither blazing nor blaring (though that word is not typically used for something short and percussive like gunshots) but glaring?

Maybe they were slow cooking their guns in a sealed pot?

They came in guns braising.

That’s got to be contraindicated by the manufacturers of both the gun and the pot.

They could’ve been preparing a sweet translucent sauce for their firearms.

You know, guns glazing.

Boooooooo!

It sounds like cops arrived in their normal uniforms with social workers who calmly explained the situation. Guns were blasé?

You got a problem with all this gun phrasing?

I think it’s amazing.

Well, I have some issues with guns, but in this thread it is the puns getting me.

I guess this thread could do with less hazing.

LOL, that was perfect. No wonder they call you the Comeback King.
