I pit DrDeth

In the Venn diagram of dumbasses and conservatives, the dumbass circle is a lot bigger.

I hate when that happens.

I preemptively apologize to those people who have been medically diagnosed with the condition.

In over 4 decades of practicing medicine, I don’t believe I ever made an official diagnosis of “dumbass”. I just called it “microdeckia”.

From the ATMB tone policing thread (which is some bullshit but that’s for a different thread)
DrDeth:

But some people dont know what “cite?” means, it appears.

Aww, it looks like I hit a nerve in that GD capitalism thread.
Also DrDeth, in the capitalism thread:

a Book as a cite is not the best

Tell me you’ve never been in academia without telling me you’ve never been in academia…

…unless it’s a book that DrDeth read and devoutly believes is the last word on whatever subject he’s pontificating about.

Welp, I’m done.

There’s a reason I have him on ignore.

Unfortunately for me, there’s a reason I don’t have him on ignore. History, particularly military history, is something I have a passion for and actually care about. @DrDeth is a plague on any discussion involving those - well, he’s a plague on any discussion period, but that’s where I usually cross paths with him. I have never met a poster more consistently and aggressively factually wrong who hasn’t been banned.

As an illustration, last month the thread in FQ Could the Japanese have used alternative carriers during the Battle of Midway? - #26 by Telemark was bumped after 2 years. Mr Deth posted three times “correcting” the facts of other posters. He was factually wrong every single time. That’s par for the course with him.

Every once in a while, Discourse’s ignore function fails, and the only person on my ignore list is visible to me.

It always, without fail, makes my day a little worse.

I move to call it “dethicating” rather than “pontificating”. It just has a certain ring to it…

He certainly ain’t no Pope.

Definitely doesn’t build any bridges, either, when he gets challenged

What he does in the woods stays in the woods?

Oy

There is an upper limit on the number of words I am going to spend on the inevitably futile endeavour of getting him to say, “maybe I was too hasty” and it is not high. So pithiness is the order of the day.

Yes, our American “fed” who is an “expert” on military history, firearm regulation, and apparently British property law

And who apparently does not know what “The Crown” means in Britain or Commonwealth countries. I guess he just watches the miniseries by that name for information.

Since it’s Thanksgiving, we should all say what we are thankful for. I’m thankful that Dr Deez’s father wasn’t allegedly a part of “The Crown’s” staff and privy to secret information. Were he British, I have no doubt he would have been. Allegedly. For entertainment purposes only.

Hey, he’s admitted it’s confusing. Unfortunately that admission won’t then lead him to reconsider the confidence with which he approached the topic, and the wisdom of the choice to contribute flat assertions rather than questions, but it’s as close as we can hope to get.

It was amusing just how assertive he was. He came in confident as shit. Surprise, surprise he doesn’t know what he’s taking about.
