You mean part of Chuck’s staff? Cause that’s what they all called him, of course
I’m sort of sorry I missed the clown show, but he still isn’t coming off ignore.
Wow. I read the rest of the (parts of the thread on this topic) from there, and I admit to be gobsmacked. I have previously not read more than a couple of posts in a row from that poster in a single thread, but this time I persisted. I am glad to say that I have never met anyone in real life who was so unwilling to admit a mistake (or multiple mistakes, repeatedly). And what a hill to pick to die on.
And tonight’s award for patronizing dickhead goes to,
Hahahahahahahaha, oh lord I nearly died laughing. Dr. Deez accusing someone of not posting in good faith; I’m pretty sure that level of irony is a violation of the Geneva conventions.
I thoroughly enjoyed him pretending that the question wasn’t as important as the answer was.
An answer that DrDeth avoided.
Me, too.
DrD is the gift that keeps on giving.
To my knowledge, he has never backed down from a statement he made. He will flail, deflect, move goalposts, change topic, change premise, post cites (that he often doesn’t read), backpedal and eventually quietly stop posting on the issue at hand.
I do wonder what it’s like to live in that head, where thoughts and ideas were fossilized half a century ago - thoughts that a friend told him or he somehow picked up from a, by then, outdated textbook. The total inability to absorb any kind of new information is pretty staggering.
He’s currently doing the DrDethDance in a couple of GD threads and it’s quite entertaining to see him smacked around.
He kind of admits that he’s wrong here:
Known Gygax fanboi dismisses critic as “a known and admitted WotC hater”. (Game Room, “DND OGL” thread)
Yeah, that whole thread is just weird.
Being an oft irrational fan of an individual? Sure, I get that. Irrationally defending a faceless, multinational corporation explicitly seeking to rent seek? What the actual hell?
In the “Raccoons Are Giant Rats” thread, he asserted that it was illegal to shoot raccoons with a pellet gun or to trap and relocate them. I and a few others have pointed out that isn’t true in their states. He keeps insisting that in those cases we must have permits (plot twist: I do not).
Why oh why can’t you just submit/accept the authority of some cranky old white dude who has been conditioned throughout his life to automatically be granted deference through no virtue of his own?!
Yeah, California does have strong animal rights laws, and it’s possible you need a permit to kill a pest animal in CA. But he keeps saying that’s the norm. It’s not. I did a lot of research in my home state because i have a lot of animal pests, and bought a pellet gun to kill them. (Plot twist, i don’t think i can do it, and the gun is still in its box.) But it’s totally legal for me to kill chipmunks with a pellet gun in my backyard. I think rabbits and gray squirrels need to be actively damaging my property, because they are game animals and can only be killed in season. OR when i am protecting my property. I admit i was surprised to learn that i can discharge a pellet gun in my suburban backyard, but i can.
And i know a lot of farmers who dispatch pests, mostly by shooting them with small rifles and pellet guns. And those farmers live in a lot of states.
Yeah, in Texas it is totally ok (unsurprisingly) for a landowner to kill a raccoon (among other fur bearing and/or nuisance animals) on their own property with a regular firearm. Pellet guns would of course be totally ok as well. Or trap and relocate them - which is the more encouraged route, especially in cities and suburbs. No permits required. Texas isn’t big on restricting landowners from doing things on their own property.
For such a big proponent of virtually unrestricted gun ownership/usage, it’s just a bizarre take.
Even when he knows he’s wrong, he doubles down. Pretty sure he knows he’s wrong but has been conditioned in real life to not accept/admit error from social inferiors, which he clearly believes the majority of the board to be. I know too many older gents exactly like that
Unless a species is federally protected or endangered I will dispatch any nuisance pest I need to.
I’d prefer the OP of the thread doesn’t just send the kid out to do it.
But, yeah, in Arkansas it’s totally legal to do so.
I think I can see the creaky wheels turning though.
“California = anti-gun state” mean “Surely it must be illegal to shoot any animals in California without a permit and surely I can safely jump to that conclusion without doing any research whatsoever”
Stupid git
I get that I am a polar opposite politically from many of you on SD but DrDeth is the only person here that refuses to engage in any sort of dialogue about politics and sticks to “I’m correct and if you disagree you’re an idiot/evil.” And he’s a hypocrite about it too. At least be true to your ideals.
“Personally if I had my way, only medical professionals would be called ‘Doctor’ or ‘Dr.’” - DrDeth, almost exactly three years ago.
Well, I’m sure DrDeez qualifies for the honorific. The same way that he’s a Fed because he works for social security, he’s probably a Doctor because he earned his medicine merit badge in boy scouts. It would be so unlike him to say anything misleading!
