Not to resurrect a five-year-old meme word lightly, but that note, as commentary on an unsuccessful suicide attempt, is a veritable carnival of FAIL. Using Nietzsche quotes as bookends is an especially phaily touch.
I have my doubts as to the sincerity of his attempt. But that’s for another discussion.

Putting aside the fact that this guy was the hard times she experienced, who makes a promise like this in a suicide note? Wouldn’t it have been more honest to have written “In hard times that occur in this cell in the next ten minutes know that I am there to lean on.”
It makes more sense if you know that on the back of the suicide note was his last will and testament, in which he specified his desire to be taxidermied and sent to Ms. Mack as a set of couch cushions.
I’ll occasionally throw “Koppenhaver” into Google to see if anything anything amusing has happened.
