I pit King of the Hill.

I am sooo pissed off. King of the Hill showed a “gathering” of hippies tonight. It seems so much of an obvious attack against the Rainbow Family Gathering. And it is really really ignorant. I went to a Rainbow Family Gathering and let me tell you, you will never meet a more respectful, generous, and polite group of people. They don’t steal. They don’t punish in the name of Karma. And they DEFINATELY don’t destroy the environment!!! KOTH actually said that Hippies are the number one source of air and water pollution!!! AAAAAHH!!! What a f$*@ing lie!!! After Rainbow Family Gatherings are over, they repair the land so much that you cannot tell that a human has ever been there!

Ahhhh!!! I hate this show!!! They made it seem as if these hippies are just sponges living off the American taxpayers. That is 100% against the movement. Rainbow Family Hippies know more about living off the land than any city slicking propane salesman!

There is no way these assholes on KoTH are real hippies. Generally I like the message KOTH preaches but you bastards are making real honest good people look bad!

During the period that I went to the gathering, I lived in the area of Texas that Arlen is supposed to be. It was without a doubt the happiest time of my life because of the Texans that lived there. I am a proud Texan and let me tell you this show makes all Texans look bad! Next thing you know Hank and company will be dressing in sheets and lynching the token black character.

No, they aren’t real hippies. And Bugs Bunny isn’t really a giant talking rabbit. It’s a cartoon. Chill the fuck out.

But they are representing hippies. They are KOTH’s symbol of hippies. The republican’s who watch the show belief the message. The message is the problem, not the story.

Small correction, the park ranger said this. Then Hank Hill replied as though he thought it was bullshit. He said something along the lines of, “Ahhhhhh, I don’t know about that.” Then he followed it up by a short uneasy laugh. I think that was more a line to show how much the park ranger hated these guys as opposed to passing along an actual fact.

I won’t say whether or not I disagree or agree with your rant in general as I don’t know dick about Rainbow Family Gatherings, just thought I’d correct that little point.

No, the show didn’t actually say that. The park ranger character said it (“right before Dow Chemical and” . . . something else), to which Hank Hill replied, “Well, I don’t know about that, but. . .”. It was obviously a joke.

While the episode wasn’t exactly a balanced or accurate portrayal of “hippies,” I think you may be forgetting that it’s just a cartoon. So they took a bit of artistic license – who cares?

Wether these are legit or not:

Some

seem

to

disagree

So when The Simpsons does a satire of “OmniTouch,” or some other soulless corporation, do you consider that a to be a problem message?

See now. Simpsons is a satirical show. King of the Hill isn’t. It is represented as real.

That’s one of the funniest things I’ve read all week.

Is it just me, or is there anyone else out there who got a completely irresistable urge to punch someone in the face when they read that?

Too bad I’m the only one home right now, because my nose hurts like a sumbitch.

Bullshit. You are a fucking moron.

Are you always this stupid, or is this a special event?

What’s worse than King of the Hill is South Park. Every other episode has Cartman complaining about how hippies are ruining everything. Huh? What’s that? The opinions of a character in a work of fiction are not necessarily not be representative of the views of the creator of that work? Nah, I don’t buy that. South Park is clearly made by a bunch of racists.

What’s that? “Hippie” isn’t a race? Since when?

Go back to Endor, you stupid Wookie!!

This is the funniest thread I’ve read in months.

I get the strange feeling that dopers are decidedly anti-hippie.

Crap! He’s on to us!

Funny. I thought dopers were supposed to be anti-ignorance.

Like, it’s sooooooo unfair to my brothers, you know, mannnnnnn

Yeah, like it’s cultural oppression, mannnn. Like this is our form of political expression, dig it, and you suits ain’t got no right to make fun of us middle-class, woolly-thinking, politically naïve, self-centred pieces of crap.

Get a grip, half-wit: Hippies do more fucking harm than they know, which isn’t hard because they know fuck all about fuck all – and, in the words of Johnny Rotten, I mean it mannnnnnnnn.

What’s their political agenda, what aspirations do they have for Kyoto, how do they think that can be achieved from where we are now, what uses of technology do they think need to be supported in order to get there ?

Answer: They haven’t got the first fucking clue: We just think, like, It would just be nice mannnn. Looking at the website linked to in the OP, it all seems to be about “gatherings” to do what Hippies do (which, it seems, is gather). And then they, like, clean up after themselves – and this is supposed to be a big deal; what, was it the servants day off ?

Everything is in their simplistic heads, it’s all about how they feel with their condescending ‘we care’ bullshit; all they care about is living in some affluent, parent-supported intellectually naïve, cotton-woolly thinking utopia where the Big Bad World doesn’t actually invade but they can think they’re the ‘alternative’ solution for the poor people that do have problems - an alternative solution actually designed to make sure they remain comfortable, guilt-free, not having to do anything and superior. Fuck ‘em.

It’s the system, man, what can you do . . . . . ? Peace, brother – you fucking pathetic, self-centred, seeping bag of middle-class utopian ignorance.
btw, generally speaking I liked the parodies on KotH. Used to like what they were trying to do.

Since we’re pitting King of The Hill…

What the fuck is up with that Peggy Hill?! She’s such a fucking moron! She thinks she knows it all, but she doesn’t! And always butting into other people’s business. I wish someone would just smash her head in and tell her whut’s whut!
