I Pit Magiver

No doubt running thru a field of flowers. It would be a ‘meet-cute’ story…until they try & tell it again & get into dispute of the ‘facts’ of how their bromance began.

Wow, Magiver just won’t quit in that thread about the off-duty pilot who tried to cut the plane’s engines. He keeps going and going, like the Energizer Bunny and DrDeth. His main interest appears to be retribution. He appears to believe that not only should the pilot (now ex-pilot) have been jailed, I’m sure Magiver would be happy to learn that he had also been beaten with a baseball bat.

FWIW, I think everyone needs to stop feeding his trollery and let that highjack die.

Wrestling with a pig…

Show of hands: is there anyone who has had a positive interaction with Magiver?

Sure! Double monkey punch? Motorcycle commando airdrop? Comedy gold.

Let me clarify: an unironic positive interaction.

I figured out long ago that he was less than useless, and was actively toxic to this board. He is, no question, the absolute worst poster that has not been banned yet.

I banned him from my perspective long ago.

Well, his posts are not infinitely long. They do eventually end. That’s a positive.

The problem is that is that people took issue with his stance being overly harsh and so there for he was forced to double triple and quadruple down on that stance regardless of the absurdity. If instead the teeming millions came down on the side that Magiver’s initial assessment was overly lenient, by now he would be arguing that the pilot in question deserved full reinstatement and a medal.

As I scan it, he thinks drug users should be treated like mad dogs who should be punished not only for the offense they committed, but for other types of offenses that they haven’t yet committed.

Like most right-wing carceralists he also seems not to be aware that not every drug causes the same types of issues. His suggestion that someone who used psychedelic mushrooms will be driving down the highway and suddenly need a “pick-me-up” is like something you’d read from a Jack Chick tract with people talking about snorting lines of reefer or whatever.

Agreed.

I don’t think he’s a purposeful troll, in the sense of saying insincere things to get a rise out of people. But make no mistake, he absolutely loves the fact that he’s a brick wall that liberals love to hurl themselves against, thinking he’s might see reason, when he knows he has no intention whatsoever of budging.

I fall into that trap with him now and then. He’ll post something with flaws that are so obvious that it seems that surely they can be easily refuted simple and obvious correction, and then I realize, he’s not at all embarrassed to just keep repeating the error endlessly until I’m exhausted. It’s better to save your strength for more worthy pursuits.

There’s a reason that fighting ignorance is “…taking longer than we thought.” And Magiver is an example of that reason.

There are none so blind stupid as they who will not see learn.

Aside:
In my younger days, I indeed tried this. Spoiler: it doesn’t work.

When I last looked at the thread about the off-duty pilot who tried to shut off the plane’s engines (I think it was yesterday) Magiver’s position was being smacked down but he had not yet responded. I figured it was just a matter of a short amount of time. And sure enough, he’s back, repeating the same bullshit again and again. And this time gets a huge mod note to STFU about it already.

The constant stubborn repetition is separate from the stupidity of his views. His primary thesis appears to be that when criminals are in jail, they can no longer commit crimes. Know where else that exact same brilliant philosophy was articulated? In a Dilbert cartoon, around the time that Scott Adams was losing his marbles and becoming a full-on insane mouth-frothing Trump supporter, or had already done so.

Of course it can make sense for violent repeat offenders to be locked up for life, but Magiver seems to be of the opinion that anyone who commits a crime should be jailed forever, or at least for a very long time. The latter attitude is what leads to high rates of recidivism because in many different ways it spawns a permanent criminal underclass of people who can no longer be rehabilitated. In short, Magiver is a fucking moron, and congenitally incapable of stifling his repetitive exhibition of it.
.

He’s been beating the “pilot belongs in prison” drum for a week now.

And has just been modded to STFU on that sub-topic.
