First poster I’ve ignored in a long time, but blatant disregard for reality does it for me.
I just returned to the Minneapolis ICE shooting thread after being out of it for a while. I see that Magiver is taking the position of Trump and his gang of sycophantic liars rather than the position supported by facts and evidence, and polluting that thread with his usual mule-like stubborn persistence.
The world board would be a better place if Magiver would just at least learn to STFU after a while. Look, Magiver, if you’re reading this, going on and on and on and on repetitively with the same damn stupid argument is not going to convince anyone, it’s just going to annoy them.
JFC, the mod note cited no fewer than 10 instances of repeating the same damn point over and over again!
Annoying people is the entire reason he posts in the first place. He’s not trying to convince anyone. He’s just trying (and succeeding) at being an asshole.
Honestly, I don’t think so. That would make him a troll, and I don’t think that’s what he is, at least not intentionally. I think it’s all about misplaced arrogance. “Behold my superior knowledge and analytical skills, and cower before them. If some of you are too stupid to appreciate my brilliant insights, I will repeat them – over and over again – until you do.”
When you put arrogance and stupidity together, the results can be quite amusing. The all-time classic example: Donald J Trump. With whom Magiver seems to agree about a lot of stuff, including the Minneapolis ICE shooting. It was all the victim’s fault, the mother of three children who had just dropped off one of them at school and then clearly wanted to engage in a battle to the death with ICE officers. In Magiver’s world, the victims are always guilty, and police and military can do no wrong.
Everything he does in that thread directly points to his deliberately trying to “win” by getting the thread shut down.
HIs obtuseness is just mind-boggling. I’ve never really encountered Magiver before but this one opened my eyes…my eyelids are half-way stretched over my bloody head!

Except for when it comes to opting not to airdrop motorcycle-riding paratroopers into the middle of a battlefield.

It is interesting comparing and contrasting Magiver’s arguments in that thread with his arguments in this thread where he claimed that it hitting a car with an umbrella is much more aggressive than deliberately accelerating your car into a protestor and pushing him 6 feet.

Yes, I should add “amusing from a distance, when it has no immediate effect on you”. But indeed horrifying if it does, or if it might.
That’s much, but not all, of the story.
When you also add reflexive right wing authority worship to the mix it gives your hard-on a predominant direction to point. Which dumb but turgid one-eyed direction makes the rest of his schtick a lot more predictable. It’s still majorly lame. But at least now you can predict in which way it will be lame.

Is it just me, or is this nonsense? I can think of 10 more dangerous things, before breakfast even.
