There’s a conundrum for you: Which of the two are more insulted by the comparison?
Couldn’t you totally see Hegseth proposing parachuting in on motorcycles? I think they would both be honored by the comparison.
If Magiver was a raging alcoholic like Hegseth, that would also explain some other aspects of his posting.
I don’t know what the fuck kind of war it is - describing it as a “religious war” doesn’t seem much more (or less) crazy than any other description you give it.

In that post he also stated that he stops at two-way stop signs when he has the right of way, which is a good way to get oneself rear ended, but then he’s been the World’s Most Superior Driver™ for at least 13 years on these boards because he looks under parked cars for kids & pets waiting to “spring out into [his] path”. I’m glad to see his driving abilities full-of-shittedness haven’t diminished as he’s gotten older. 
My favorite bit in the Iran thread is when he responded to my saying that the Iranian War was a holy war on the part of the Americans. He was all like, Yeah, but the Iranians think that in the end times a holy figure from the ancient past will come back and bring about paradise on earth!

I don’t think that ever has been, or will be true.
His takes on aviation concerns are always maddeningly oversimplistic and start with the assumption that the engineers and pilots are all just failing to see inexpensive, simple solutions that, of course, are blindingly obvious to him because he once flew a Cessna.
A couple I noted recently: The pilots of the UPS 747 that crashed on takeoff only needed cameras showing them videos of their engines. Then they could have seen that one had been torn off, and with that info, you know, chosen not to crash.
Or most recently, in response to the complaints that some window seats in commercial airliners don’t alighn to a window: build in video screens that show the view out. Cause that will be an affordable solution to a non-issue, right? “And I don’t accept any argument that this is too expensive.”

I didn’t really want to get involved in the pile-on, but one thing that really irked me a long time ago was when the 737 MAX was first introduced into service, and both Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines experienced fatal crashes. Magiver informed us with great authority that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the MAX. The real problem was that foreign pilots in shithole nations were incompetent.
Then the MAX was grounded for nearly two years while all the things related to “absolutely nothing wrong” were fixed.
Granted, the issues were complex and convoluted and blame could be spread around to many different targets. But Magiver’s world is a very simple one.

In hockey terms, he’s a player who elbows other players in the face constantly, and then when given a little shove, falls down on the ice clutching his arm and crying.
This does not happen all that often in hockey because any player who tries this will get punched in the face by his own teammates when he returns to the bench.
FTR: Magiver did not flag that post. You did push beyond what is allowed outside of the pit. You didn’t get a warning and found a suitable thread to express your opinion.
