Happened to me. I left for about three months IIRC. And it was not a pleasant three months.
Though I do feel that if you have that strong of an emotional reaction to events on a message board, it’s a sign you have to get right with yourself. I feel like posters ought to show a bit of decorum when playing Jr. Detective, but I also feel that the accused is responsible for how s/he reacts to such rudeness.

Yes, there is. But it’s not unreasonable to say this story was extraordinary and any other random “Ask the” thread or the life story of any random Doper is not.
Doubt, yes, but reasonable doubt? I don’t think so, personally. In real life, people who get caught doing this kind of thing usually don’t broke down in tears of remorse and apologize to all the people whose trust they abused. They just wait for the heat to die down and then take their act somewhere else.

Like I said before, I don’t think any of the evidence ever crossed over from “highly suspicious” to “conclusive,” no matter how many people call it “proof.” I would have loved to see if umkay ever addressed the sezyoo charges. Now she can’t. Bravo. The SDMB is now safe from trolls.
I’m not saying umkay is real. I’m not even saying it’s likely. I’m saying her troll-itude has not been proven 100% to a level of rigor that would be to my liking. But since I’m not in charge here, that really doesn’t matter, does it?
