Or the even more difficult route of threading the ring through a chain and wearing it. Because, you know, rings have holes in them. Big ones. You could put it on a freaking ROPE if you wanted to. Safety is likewise assured for as long as you wear it - it doesn’t fall off of your body unless the chain breaks or your head falls off.

I can’t find it now, but I know somewhere in this thread someone had lamented not having a FireFox addon to truly wipe out someone’s presence when they’re on your ignore list.
Someone made a script for the FireFox addon Greasemonkey that does exactly this.
First, you’ll want to install Greasemonkey: Greasemonkey version history - 12 versions – Add-ons for Firefox (en-US)
Follow all instructions and once you have it set up, you’ll next use the NYYFans Ignore Enhancer script: http://www.brutalhugs.com/code/nyyfansignoreenhancer.user.js
Once that’s installed, go to “Manage User Scripts” in Greasemonkey. Click options. Add http://boards.straightdope.com/*, with the wildcard character so it gets the entire board. Anyone you add to your ignore list on the board will henceforth cease to exist. No posts, no indication that the posts exist. It even gets most quotes.

It’s not getting the quotes for me, but it is getting the posts. It doesn’t hide threads started by people on the ignore list. The one I used before hid posts, quotes AND threads. Can you find that for me? And then try it out and see if it works?

It doesn’t hide the threads or quotes? Hmm. It may be that with newer versions of vB or FireFox, it no longer works as it used to, since this was made a few years back. Oh well. Hiding the posts themselves (instead of making the little greyed out tab) is a step in the right direction.
