I pit over-the-top Anti-Trump hysteria

The problem is that genocide is always, eventually on the offing.

In 1923 an earthquake hit Tokyo. Their response: kill every Korean they could lay hands on. As if they’d somehow caused it.

What with climate change accelerating, and the scarcity of resources that promises; and the failures of the current economic system, it’s a sure thing that people in the millions will see killing those other types to be the swift and sure answer.

And has been repeatedly pointed out, one is happening right now. You just ignore it because that interferes with your self-indulgent sneering at people.

Than?

Wait… what?

As a massive Gavin fan, the shift you’re talking about simply doesn’t exist. He wasn’t pivoting right and he isn’t pivoting left. He got in front of people who normally wouldn’t see his message, and then he told them exactly what he thinks of Trump.

History tells me that even Hitler did not go for the final solution at first.

No, really; that line of from you demonstrates how wrong and ignorant of history you are, being called a grammar Nazi was the most gentile way to tell you that you are missing that fighting “genuine” ** plans only shows that you miss a lot of the reasons why one should fight.

What me and others are saying is like (as a relevant item) what is going on with climate change. Sure, as you say, maybe Trump and henchman are not planing to turn the world into a place conductive of genocide by 2050, but by setting the ground where in the future there will be so many climate refugees… that leads to many strong men around the world who will chose to get rid of them.

What it is clear is that by ignorance Trump and the Republicans are more likely to produce that result. But, by your logic, it follows that we should not fight the planting of those seeds, because that is not what they are planning. The fumes you are running with are coming from fallacies called: Illusory superiority – Cognitive bias. And Normalcy bias, as in disbelief or minimization in response to threat warnings.

.

.

** History also shows that because fascists or Neo-fasists are opportunistic, there is little from them about “genuine plans”. Their plans take place in an environment where all Republicans are also opportunistic on how they are avoiding any responsibility on their attempts of drowning the government in the bathtub. A lot of the fight should be at the local levels, so give ideas and volunteer for your local Democratic candidates.

Which genocide is this? The one you described above where Trump was going to launch nuclear weapons at Mexico to kill brown people? Because good news, that hasn’t happened.

Of course not. But I think you don’t understand your own goals well, much less that of others. You don’t strike me as someone qualified to talk messaging strategy, given how this thread is going.

My goal was to get my message out, which I have done.

Now I’m letting people whose views I disagree with discredit themselves and I feel that’s going well.

Of course you do!
Now if you could only do it without burning all of those poor strawmen.

Strawmen?

How many people has Der_Trihs stopped from fighting Trump, though? I agree his scenario is over the top. Is he stopping you from fighting Trump?

Let me repeat myself,

Noted here is that you “deftly” skipping dealing with my last post, so the evidence shows that the one being discredited is still in Slumber land.

No, he’s not stopping me from fighting Trump. But I was already fighting Trump.

As for other people who might potentially join the fight, I don’t know. You don’t know.

But let’s assume there are some people who have heard about Trump sending troops into American cities and having masked policemen grabbing people off the streets and thought “That doesn’t sound right somehow.”

So they look around but have the misfortune to have somebody “explain” that this is all part of Trump’s master plan to start a nuclear war with Mexico so he can kill all the brown people.

Do you think these people are going to say “Well, that makes sense”? Or are they going to say that the people who oppose Trump are obviously a bunch of lunatics?

There’s the strawman.
Take it up with the person that’s ACTUALLY FUCKING SAYING IT.

Sorry, I’m getting a lot of posts thrown at me and I sometimes miss responding to one.

In this case, you’re asking me about an issue I’ve already responded to in this thread. Which means I’ll be repeating myself again in this post.

The argument you presented, if I’m following it correctly, is that Trump and the Republicans may be laying the groundwork for genocide by their actions today.

My response is that this is another reason why we should be fighting those actions that Trump and the Republicans are doing today. We should be fighting those actions because they are wrong in and of themselves. And we should also be fighting them because those actions might create the possibility of genocide.

It would make more sense that the right wing media will nutpick the ones that make no sense (like Der_Trihs) and tell their readers and viewers that all the left and moderates think that.

The problem here is to ignore that the right wing will do that, even if the opposition is only pointing to be weary about the history of dictatorships and fight to prevent thing from getting worse…

What the right wing media is doing is another thing to fight, not a thing to join as you are doing really.

So it’s a strawman but somebody is actually saying it?

Are we going to get into a debate now about what a strawman is?

Apparently we are.
It’s a strawman of the OTHER FUCKING PEOPLE IN THIS THREAD DIPSHIT.

So we should be fighting against the right wing media when they discredit the opposition to Trump by pointing out the dumb things some people are saying.

How should we be doing that? Do you think we should start a thread on a message board telling people that they should avoid saying dumb things that the right wing media will use to discredit the opposition to Trump?
