I pit over-the-top Anti-Trump hysteria

There’s a great and classic line from the movie “Stand By Me” that fits here:

No, Ace. Just you.

That’s clearly yet another thing where you either cannot understand something ridiculously clear and obvious or your pathological intellectual dishonesty has you at an extreme disadvantage.

It ranks right up there with Smapti’s charming observation that people who disagree with you are suicidal, apoplectic, profoundly depressed, or wetting their pants.

And that their position on this whole matter (ie, they see it differently than you do) prevents them from doing anything whatsoever to engage in the political process other than hiding under the covers and drinking themselves to death.

You two should start a podcast together. Seriously.

Love it. Well done @DavidNRockies

So I argue with your political beliefs and you respond with personal insults.

And Smapti argues with your political beliefs and you respond with personal insults.

But, hypothetically, if a person argued with your political beliefs, you would respond with polite well-reasoned arguments that acknowledged how people can hold differing opinions.

Uh huh.

Is there a comprehensive and exhaustive list that we can all have as a ready-reference – you know: the list that tells us exactly how we should think, feel, react, and behave about the Trump administration?

And, as said before: if you don’t like profanity and personal insults, then maybe … just maybe … don’t start a fucking Pit thread, you sealioning idiot.

Elect a new Congressman.

This isn’t a religion. There isn’t one Truth.

This is politics. If people are going to vote against Trump because they believe he is feeding people to alligators, that’s fine. But if people are going to vote against Trump because they don’t like the way ICE is acting, that’s also fine. You don’t have to argue with them about the alligators.

thank you! and now, I will unsubscribe to this thread so I spend no more time reading this OP.

Great! I’ll get right on that. I sincerely hope Trump doesn’t caused any harm between now and 2027 when the next set takes office.

Of course, the current Rep impeaching no one is a liberal Democrat, so I’m not sure how to elect a replacement who behaves differently, but I like your simple solutions to complex problems, and I’m sure your strategy is a winning one. Surprising no one else is following through.

Then maybe stop proselytizing??

You don’t.

I think that the real argument is sort of like this:

“Well the house burned down but it’s not that bad because the kitchen faucets are still intact.”

Did anyone predict Trump would champion stealing elections by having rthe Feds takeover the process? Or is this some over the top hysteria this thread is about?

Yet another one of Little_Nemo’s spiritual comrades sneering and calling folks hysterical:

Leftist hysteria in Minneapolis is about votes, not immigrants (6 days ago)

More from team ‘hysteria’:

Dumb anti ICE hysteria is safe to ignore (2 days ago)

More,
“There’s a fire in the kitchen.”
We better do something about it or the whole house will burn down!
“Why are you getting hysterical about the fire? It’s only in the kitchen.”

A) Someone needs to proofread that.
B) Why is he writing it in the third person?

@crowmanyclouds Much better!

There’s a kind of summarizing abstract, then you have to click on the ‘read the story’ or whatever it is button. Seems like a pretty garbage site, TBH.

Once again, why not both?

I mean, back when there was a chance of defeating Trump in the general election, there was a good argument that pointing out the parallels between Trump and Hitler was a bad strategy when trying to win over swing voters. Not because those parallels weren’t there, but because swing voters tended to tune out anyone who talked about it.

And, in fact, when i went door to door canvassing, i talked about the impact of the tariffs he’d promised, and the promises he’d broken, and the grifting he’d done, and how he’d personally killed the bipartisan border control bill that would have reduced our illegal immigrant issues because he wanted that to be an issue going into the election, and… And i avoided taking about the violence he’d promised to trans people, because i knew that wasn’t a generally popular issue. Know the room. And, of course, for the non-swing voters, where and how to vote.

But again, know the room. This board leans heavily anti-Trump, and his fascist tendencies are much more obvious than before his second term. This board is a fine place to point that out. And people who are terrified of the fascist are highly motivated to attempt to stop Trump. They are the ones most likely to:

They are also the ones holding cameras, to document the crimes committed at his behest, at significant personal risk. They are the ones gathering the data that helps the courts restrain him.

There is no harm, and some benefit, when anti-Trump folks support each other, and remind each other what the issues are. Like in the SDMB pit.

I think you owe an apology to a lot of posters here.

It’s more like:

“I’m just going to take care of the fire in my house.”

But the wiring in your neighbor’s house is faulty. We need to do something now before that house catches on fire as well and the entire neighborhood burns down

“Stop being hysterical. The only fire is in my house. We shouldn’t worry about hypothetical fires.”

“It’s not hypothetical. The wires are literally sparking, and when the inevitable fire reaches your house it will be too late so stop telling us we don’t need to do anything.”

“I only care about fires I can see. Any others are just imaginary.”

“AARGH!!”
