Personally, I’d like to see him impeached and imprisoned for treason regarding January 6.
But realistically, I think it’s more likely the charges will be sex crimes.

Trial should take a day, including a break for lunch.
We could just bullet point all his other crimes. But it’s. Gonna. Be. A. Very. Long. List.
On the one hand, he’s going to turn each and every item on that list into a three ring circus that will take months to play out before we can get to the next thing. OTOH, once he’s not president, he may not have the money he needs to drag things out like this, and it’s very likely most of his ‘friends’ aren’t going to be real keen on giving him some of theirs when he can’t do anything for them anymore.
It doesn’t have to be a single trial.
Impeach him, remove him from office, arrest him, try him, convict him, and imprison him on one of the easy charges, like statuatory rape.
Then once he’s locked up in a prison cell, we can take our time on the other crimes.
…it’s remarkable you say this when in the months since this thread started you haven’t been able to articulate an actionable plan on how to get here. It’s like you are living in a fantasy world where doing a couple of performative actions means you get to skip the battle ahead and just get to the satisfying conclusion.
“Defeating Trump” isn’t the endgame. Trump is the figurehead which is allowing (as Sarah Kendzior puts it) a transnational crime syndicate masquerading as a government to transfer wealth from the public to their mates in a way that will probably be irreversible. They are deconstructing the federal government. Undermining the fabric of international law. Passing laws that will make the very act of being trans in public near impossible. Abortion is illegal in much of the country. “DEI” getting banned from campuses.
And while Trump deserves to rot in jail, the reality there isn’t a single member of the Dem establishment who really cares enough to even try to make it happen.
You don’t get a better world without a fight. And short-term alliances over a single issue (Trump) are absolutely not the way to get there. Because this singular focus on Trump is the real anti-Trump hysteria. It means you get to pretend all the other bad stuff that is happening doesn’t really matter, that you get to ignore how complicit establishment Dems are with the process.
I have. Repeatedly.
It has been amply demonstrated that the Republicans are not going to oppose Trump. They will not impeach him or remove him from office, regardless of what crimes he commits.
So I have said that we need to make the impeachment and arrest of Donald Trump the primary issue of the November 2026 congressional elections. We need to raise public awareness of why Trump needs to be removed from office and we need to put public pressure on politicians to pledge they will remove Trump from office.
As a matter of political reality in America, this means voting for Democrats.
Now you may feel that the Democrats are just the same as the Republicans. Maybe you feel that Joe Biden or Kamala Harris would be doing all of the things Trump is doing if one of them had won in 2024.
I don’t. I think bothsiderism is wrong. Trump and the Republicans are far worse than anybody in the Democratic field.
I said this in the OP:
He is both evil and stupid. He is a terrible human being and he is the worst President this country has ever had. He, along with the Republican party, are trying to destroy democracy. He has committed numerous serious crimes and should be in prison.
…why?
Because who seriously believes the Dems have what it takes to impeach and arrest Donald Trump if they win back the Senate and the House? You know they aren’t going to do that, right? That isn’t happening.
It’s a lie. The Dems will never follow that through.
And its the sort of lie that the Dems say over and over again. Its a terrible thing to be running on.
And how is that working out for you exactly? Do you think there simply wasn’t enough “public awareness” last time, and maybe a few more empty words and gestures is just what is needed now to put things over the top?
If everyone follows the rules, Trump is gone at the next presidential election. Trump Haters from the right can wait a couple of years because they support everything else the MAGA regime are doing. They get the best of both worlds.
Its a ridiculous strategy. There won’t ever be the political will from the dem establishment to actually follow through on this. Its just more empty promises.
Or wait until 2028. Then Trump is gone.
What I think is that the Democrats are the only party right now that can do anything to oppose this administration. But I think they are fundamentally incapable of rising to the occasion. I think the strategy you propose is fucking stupid, but I also think its the strategy the Dems will go into the next election with, and if it’s successful, they won’t actually follow through with it, and if they fail they are going to blame it on the “left”.
But I don’t think your strategy will work. I hope that it does. But the Dems need to do more of something you have proven wholly incapable of doing since you started this thread, and that is listening. The sheer arrogance of the Dem leadership mirrors the sheer arrogance you demonstrate in this thread.
I’ve always said that Trump and the Republicans are both far worse than anybody in the Democratic field. So don’t you dare strawman me on this. I can hold two positions at once: that Biden enabled the genocide of Gaza to happen, and the blood of Palestinians will forever stain his hands, AND Trump and the Republicans will objectively be far, far worse than him on everything.
This is a really good example of what people in this thread are complaining about.
Literally no one has said that both sides are the same. They’re clearly not. So why are you arguing against it?
What they HAVE said is that the Democrats are not going to save us. They are a better choice than the Republicans, and we will vote for them, but they haven’t the stomach to make the necessary systemic changes of do the hard work of confrontation and conflict resolution.
As evidence of that, we can point to their ineffectual response. Yes, they are the minority party, but they have the resources to clearly call out the administration’s lies and use of propaganda, and they by and large don’t.
I have to agree. In fact, I would probably go further, and say that in the event Trump and his minions are successful in their plans to discourage enough voters (SAVE act anyone?) so that they actually don’t lose seats in the mid-terms, the Democrats in the minority will perhaps be “concerned”, and maybe even get miffed a little. But not much more.
Okay, if you guys object to my plan, offer up a better plan.
No one is required to offer up a better solution in order for their criticism to be valid.
Other ideas, outside of revolution?
Could you please post (or at least summarize) that exchange? I could use a smidgen of cheering up.
I would include setting the agenda. We should have a plan bigger than getting Democrats elected. We should make it clear that we see the primary issue of this election as removing Trump from office and we are electing them for that reason.
I think my plan is to put pressure on the Democrats to come up with a leader who will actively oppose Trumpism and the party that supports it. This means becoming a real shadow government, and effective communication. I think they have people who can do this, but they don’t want to push aside the current leaders because they haven’t done anything bad.
These aren’t normal times, and they SHOULD be shoved aside.
I’m a little iffy on this plan. I don’t feel we should be counting on a great man to arise and then step in to save us all. That sounds to me a little too close to the way the magas are treating Trump.
I want the system as a whole to work. The one where the power comes from we the people and the representatives we’ve chosen (and who are answerable to us). We have a system that can remove Trump and the Republicans from power. We just need to use it.
Trump did this…
MUNICH — Multiple European countries are publicly backing talks on a homegrown nuclear deterrent to complement American atomic weapons following an erosion of trust in a Donald Trump-led U.S.
Top officials from two Baltic countries told POLITICO that, while they still see NATO as the cornerstone of nuclear deterrence, they are now willing to talk about Europe’s role — adding fresh momentum to a debate that resonated through both public speeches and private conversations at the Munich Security Conference this weekend.
The rising pressure to start a serious nuclear conversation in Europe is a response to wavering confidence that the U.S. would repel a Russian attack, something that hasn’t lifted despite U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s relatively conciliatory tone in a speech Saturday morning.
I’m getting a bit less corgial.

And JD Vance should be put on notice that if he continues Trumps destruction, he can share a cell.
Start by looking for an American Mark Carney. Check the resume, impeccable reputation, top tier banking experience, deep roots in international finance, actual degrees in economics. Been elected as a Conservative AND a liberal. Acknowledged by both sides as a good human. You house some of world’s best universities, surely you could scrape someone up!
In Canada, the Conservatives were supposed to waltz to victory with a 30 point lead in the polls. But the Liberals got rid of Justin and decided to go a different way. Because we were living in interesting times.
Ultimately it’s the voters who decide, more of the same? Someone who kisses babies, shakes hands, knows people, with plenty of experience, at some point, stops being the right guy for the job.
Attempt the creation of a third party if you have to. It looks to me like there are many disaffected voters on both sides. Now could be the moment.
If all the resistance has to offer is an old experienced political name, no amount of organizing or marching is going to mean much, in my humble opinion.
