But if we get enough D’s in there, it would be a slam dunk. I’m not sure how many seats are up though.
This would be nice, I agree. It would go a long way towards showing your former allies that you have regained some sense of normalcy.
It won’t happen.
Should we try? Or just roll over.
What do you think has changed in the make up of Congressional dems since the last two times they impeached Trump?
…for the sake of clarity: the point I’m addressing here is Little_Nemo’s " primary issue of this election as removing Trump from office and we are electing them for that reason."
My argument is that if everyone follows the rules, that this is just going to happen. In two years Trump will be gone. As I said upthread:
Bolding mine.
I’m open to the possibility they will impeach. I doubt that they will. But removal is an entirely different thing. I think the establishment Dems don’t recognise the existential threat that they are facing. Even if they broke the threshold to convict in the midterms, someone would break ranks.
Why I don’t think they will impeach this time is firstly because Pelosi won’t be driving the ship. Secondly, when they impeached him the last two times, there was the threat of a second Trump term. That threat (assuming they follow the 22nd Amendment) no longer exists. And if they plan to ignore the 22nd Amendment, then impeachment and conviction wouldn’t matter anyway. Thirdly, if they don’t have the numbers to convict, impeachment would largely be inconsequential.
You think Nancy “I’m just here for the stock tips” Pelosi is the missing x factor in getting the Dems more riled up? Really?
Okay, that’s a take, I guess.
…nope.
Yes, really.
I was talking specifically about impeachment. Not about “getting the Dems riled up”.
Then what were you trying to communicate when you mentioned her as a reason the Dems wouldn’t impeach Trump a third time?
So was I.
…“riling people up” and taking charge on matters of impeachment are two entirely different things.
And you asked me what was different. I listed three things. One of them was Pelosi.
I don’t even know why you are still arguing with me on this. Its largely inconsequential to my larger point. I’ve already conceded that yes, they might impeach. But I’m almost certain they aren’t going to remove.
Does it? I was assuming you meant that Pelosi’s leadership position was a necessary factor in the first two impeachments happening. Does “inspire other Dems to pursue impeachment” make the intent of what I wrote clearer?
Yeah, and I asked for more information on the point that I felt you were insufficiently clear on.
Still curious why you think Pelosi not being there is an important consideration in whether or not the Dems will try to impeach again, ftr. Feel free to share it whenever you’re ready.
“to make someone angry.”
Yes, two different things.
No it doesn’t. I don’t think Pelosi would “inspire” other Democrats to fall in line. That isn’t her style. It’s her leadership thats lacking. And I’m saying that as a big non-fan of hers.
Because she has leadership skills, the ability to make deals, experience and mana that someone like Jefferies simply does not have. The House at the moment is a bit of a rudderless ship.
I feel like you’re being deliberately obtuse, here.
…LOL.
I’ve answered all of your questions. I’ve conceded that they might impeach. You seem all riled up over me for some reason.
Eventually.
…liar. I answered directly. You asked for clarification on Pelosi and I gave it. Its not as if you had to drag it out of me. What on earth is your problem?
Yes.
Eventually.
…I’m sorry I don’t have a time machine so I could have given you clarification BEFORE you asked for it. I’m afraid you are just going to have to settle on waiting until AFTER you ask for clarification for me to be able to clarify.
But for the record, I don’t believe any reasonable person with knowledge of recent political history would need clarification on how effective Pelosi was in her role. I was surprised that you didn’t know, but was happy to provide that clarification.
Doing it after would have been fine. Which you did.
Eventually.
…now I think you are just drunk LOL.
Sure. Explain exactly what WE can do to eliminate this current administration before January 2029.
