I Pit Parade Magazine Feb. 11th & Walter Scott's Personality Parade column

In two weeks they’ll give an update on Anna Nicole Smith’s life.

Like with every print magazine, they print them well in advance of when you see them and the columns are submitted before even that. Sometimes things are a little less then timely unfortunately. Stuff like that happens all the time. If it’s something really major, they’ll sometimes go to lengths to rectify the situation but this is just a fucking horse for the love of god.

The current issue of Mental Floss ran a cover article on “Where Are They Now?” One of the subjects mentioned was Gerald Ford. By the time it was published, he was no longer There.

I see Parade’s website has an update.

Our local newspaper did have an ad on December 25th for the December 28th show at our local concert hall for James Brown. But I can’t see a magazine putting out wrong information almost two weeks after the event.

Seriously? Even if the magazines are printed two weeks in advance? Why does this baffle you so much? Some monthly magazines and catalogs are printed six weeks or more in advance.

Especially since Parade is inserted into newspapers and not mailed out on its own (right?). That means they have to be there well before the Sunday papers are printed, which at some papers might be Friday. That means they’re probably in transit for most if not all of that week (it’s not like they’re overnighting them to every paper in the country). THAT means they would need to be printed by the end of the week before they’re distributed – at the very latest (and I can’t imagine how long their print run takes). And THAT means they would need to be written, edited, designed, etc. by the middle of the week before they run. So basically, the Parades for NEXT Sunday (the 18th) are probably already on the road to their newspapers, if not there already.

And that’s a very VERY conservative estimate, IMO.

You’re pitting a February 11th edition of Parade?

How can we pit things that haven’t even happened yet? I’m so confused.* :smack:

Dates on magazines are typically for the next week-I can (or used to) get Newsweek via my
dad’s office subscriptions on Tue or Wed of the previous week (which is typically officially dated
with Monday’s date). In the case of Parade, which of course is not a newsstand rag, sometimes
it shows up in Saturday newspapers I believe.

don’t look up.

That’s assuming that Parade is centrally printed and then sent out to each newspaper. I always assumed that each paper prints Parade on its own presses.

I doubt it. Not all papers can handle the print and paper quality that Parade uses.

That would be incredibly inefficient. Why pay the expense of printing them up a few hundred thousand at a time when it’s far, far cheaper per issue to print them by the tens of millions and just stick a new logo on every once in a while?

Sorry. Had several windows open and thought I was in a different forum.

Very poor pitting. If anything, you should pit the Walter Scott column for the way he makes up lame-ass gossip questions that nobody gives a flying fuck about, tacks on a fake name and location and then writes a snippy answer.

B.A. - Made up location

Lame.

  1. Who reads this (Scott’s column) shit?

  2. Who cares what they read?

  3. Who gets so worked up about it that they would pit it?

That said, the only thing going for the OP is that a mere 12 words were used.

1.5 out of 10. No spelling or grammar errors and no smudges.

Word UP! I get douche chills when I think about that column.

Q: Isn’t it sort of amazing that the tone and style of the questions is the same in every question and also that same as all the answers.

A: Yes.

Gee, maybe next week it will have information on the current activities of the healthy and energetic Generalissimo Francisco Franco.
