Ay-men. I’m a moderator at another board (one where a large part of the population consists of teenaged boys - feel for me!) and when you give someone a warning they blow up like you’ve just imprisoned them for six years on bread and water, isolated with only a green-dyed rat to keep them company. You break the rules, you get a warning, so you know that you broke the rules, so you don’t do it again, so the moderators don’t have to ban you. What’s the problem here?
If a topic is in IMHO, or MPSIMS than it’s a “nice” thread. The mere fact that a thread is in MPSIMS or IMHO, or Cafe Society means that it’s not a “true” debate thread, it’s more of a shared ideas thread. If you want to flame due to someone’s comments in one of those forums, start another thread in the Pit, as you did here, if you want to ask a tangental question about the topics in a thread, start it in GQ, and if you want to debate some of the tangental things that come to mind when you read a thread in one of those forums, go to GD and start a thread. Just make certain you include a link to the other thread which caused you to start the new topic.

guinnog, if you’ll accept a little advice from one who is frequently in the minority around here and who has engaged in more than his share of heated exchanges, it truly is necessary to try to “work within the system”, so to speak, and honor the commonly accepted traditions and customs that exist here at the Dope.
You can argue, fight, curse, belittle, and flame people here all you want (in the Pit, that is), but you can’t do it if it seems you’re doing it just to stir up shit. That’s what you appear to be doing here. Your question has been asked and answered but you keep “stirring up shit” rather than accepting it and moving on.
If you appear to be a poster intent on being jerkish, i.e., “stirring up shit” for no good reason other than to do so, you can and most likely will end up being banned. It can be hard to discern the line between fighting the good fight and being a jerk, especially when you are new here. But you’ve been told time and again that you’ve crossed the line, you keep trying to antagonize one of the mods, and you keep arguing you’ve done nothing wrong. Believe me, you’ve crossed the line. If you keep acting like you are now, I fear your tenure here will be short-lived.
So you haven’t mastered the art of reading, then. Oh well.

And the fact remains (and will remain however many verbal grenades and howitzers are fired at him) that he was responding in the WWII memorial thread to Noone Special, whose post referred to Nazi murder machine. Nothing amiss in guinnog’s response, which picked up on the solemn, even severe, tone (or register) of Noone Special’s contribution and addressed part of its content, the death camps.
Responding to my request for clarification: “What reasons have you read for the decision to block resources being spent on bombing the extermination camps and the railway lines leading to them?”, guinnog replied as follows: “Anti-semitism. Pure and simple. A senior UK official annotated one of the pleas by Jewish groups at the time with a comment about whining Jews, before rejecting it ISTR. If anybody important had cared about the fate of the victims, there is no doubt that lives could have been saved. Not a sentiment one hears aired often enough in my opinion.”
It was at this point that for reasons only known to himself RickJay came back into the thread all guns blazing to accuse guinnog of hijacking, irrelevant ranting and bitching.
And then the chap who joined in 2005 as opposed to 2000 got warned.
