Huh?? Why so sensitive? I was only making a statement of fact, not intended to offend.
But since I rarely if ever post in this forum and I may not get another chance, allow me to say, with no presumed animosity or extra qualification, fuck you.
Naturally, religion deserves a sound thrashing. But that’s primarily due to the religious nuts who are inherently sociopathic and powermad, and use religion as a shield to justify their cruel deeds. That doesn’t mean there’s anything distatesful about the Bible itself, or the Koran, or even the Kalevala. You shouldn’t denounce Catcher in the Rye or Stephen King’s Rage just because some nutcase read the book and decided to become a mass murderer. Heck, even Mein Kampf is just an expression of some jerk’s opinion – everyone has a right to express what they feel, just like everyone else has the right to either accept or reject it.
If you think that I am misinterpreting someone saying “fuck you” to me as animosity, well damn man, maybe you should go back and re-read your entire life for comprehension.
his quote specifically says without animosity - you took his previous post as an attack on you - when it said it was not - lastly, as this is the PIT - and the person “cursing you” (hilarious on its face, to curse you with sexual activity) - is saying it “specifically because its the pit and he rarely posts in here”… well…
I see. Well if it was a "just because I am on the pit and this comment has nothing to do with you but ‘fuck you’ " then fine. I admit I was incorrect.
Still, being told fuck you by a complete stranger online isn’t oftentimes coming from a benevolent place, and what he said in that sentence wasn’t necessarily the clearest thing to go on. How I took it as. Sort of like someone saying, “hey trust me, this has nothing to do with you, but: punches you in the face just wanted to do that since I don’t know how many opportunities I will have to do that again.”
perhaps then you should stay out of places where your going to get the random ‘punch in the face’ just because you’re standing there…
To put it another way - to start a post in the pit is to invite said behavior - snark rules here - if you wanted to have a genuine debate/conversation about the nature in your OP - GD would allow for it and we’d have to maintain decorum…
The PIT is not a benevolant place…
But we don’t here - so a hearty "fuck you’ is a requirement - and I just realized I haven’t met mine - so … fuck you and the keyboard you’re typing on.
He will either end up and a lonely, bitter old person, or will, like Saul of Tarsus, have an epiphany and become a believer. Black or white, there doesn’t seem to be any middle ground for this poster.
I hope he gets over what has turned him off to faith in anything, and has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
a) if you think I’ve broken a rule - report it
b) as the original post that we are discussing and the context of my reply is - that specific statement was not directed AT you. CONTEXT is everything.
if you want to make things personal - we can do that as well.
Religion is evil and destructive in its own right, like many other ideologies; racism, sexism, fascism, authoritarianism, and so on. And the fact is, religions typically explicitly call for people to commit evil acts. Claiming that something is not the fault of a religion when the religion tells people to do it is just defending religion by making humans out to be monsters.
The fact that so many people leap to its defense by demonizing humans in general just shows how destructive and anti-human religion is. People who do evil in the name of religion aren’t corrupting its message most of the time; they are just doing what it clearly demands. It’s usually the people who try to do good in the name of religion who are corrupting its message.
As a believer, I resent the fact that I have no say in this. What if none of us want him?
That goes double for Trihs, with the difference being that he’s already plenty bitter.
Seriously, DT, if you can’t see any other viewpoint than your very narrow one, you’re never going to appreciate literature, or art, or any philosophy that doesn’t match your claustrophobic version.
There’s a lot of beauty in other religions and worldviews and poetry (and comics…) that you’re not seeing.
Ah, the old “if you’re an atheist you’re a soulless amoral monster” routine. Despite the desire of religious people to pretend that they alone are human, I’m perfectly capable of appreciating things like beauty. And it’s amusing that you bring up comics as something I supposedly can’t appreciate due to my atheism given that my username is from a webcomic written by a Mormon.

a) if you think I’ve broken a rule - report it
[/QUOTE]
I don’t think you have broken a rule, I know it. The rules clearly say to not say “fuck you” directed at its posters. If you feel that it needs to be reported I will leave that up to you.
*"The following expressions should not be directed at other posters.
cunt and variants, e.g., cuntlapper
motherfucker
cocksucker fuck you and variants, e.g., go fuck yourself, fuck off and die
suck/lick my dick/cock and variants"*
and I’m telling you that my statement was NOT directed AT you… it was a statement in the same line as the post we were discussing - which you agreed that you misunderstood.
Have a pleasant day…
