I don’t think anyone thinks he has now legalized assault or police brutality. But he can - and did - encourage it. That is not only the opinion of the “anti-cop crowd,” but also a significant number of police departments that have publicly condemned the remarks. Others, of course, have said that this remark is no big deal.
Right. Trump can’t make police do illegal activities. But the fact that he thought it would be okay to try is quite offensive.
Agreed. And I think the reason that the cops laughed at it was that they didn’t take him seriously. Why would a cop jeopardize his case, his career, & risk imprisonment just to give some lowlife a little payback?
It shows yuge ignorance.
But that’s nothing new.
Bad things that are repeated should still be criticized, lest they become thought of as normal. Trump’s ignorance is not normal, and should be criticized every time it’s demonstrated.
Good GOD, the police and their supporters are such whiny little bitches.
If you think being a police officer and being subject to public criticism and oversight is so damned difficult and offensive, GET A DIFFERENT FUCKING JOB.
Or STFU and do your jobs within the limits of your policies and oversight. And grow the fuck up and accept that in doing a public job, you’re going to get criticism from the public no matter what you do.
As I said, you aren’t ordained by God to be cops. Nor is being a police officer anywhere near the top 10 most dangerous jobs. When you whine like this, it only shows you for the cowards, pussies and bullies you really are.
That’s how you wish to interpret all the happy cops behind him? Where do you get your rose-colored blinders?
So are you saying that police brutality - giving “some lowlife a little payback” - never happens? After all, why would a cop risk all of that?
Where did I say that? Please post the post# that I said that in.
Logic would say that they shouldn’t.
But as long as police work is done by humans there will ALWAYS be a few bad apples making bad decisions. There’s no getting around that.
There wouldn’t be a brutality problem if this didn’t happen.
As far as giving a lowlife payback, what if they grabbed the wrong guy? Ever heard of “innocent until proven guilty in a court of law”?
What did Freddy Grey do?
As usual, another wonderful post from Colibri who is probably pissed that this is the pit and and he can’t give a warning to someone for the SD crime of being conservative.
As for the cops, can we add those who lie (i.e. the Blue Line) to cover up the brutality and murders their buddies commit?
So what does the record look like on other police officers removing the ‘bad apples’ from their midst versus cheering them on, defending them and covering up for them?
If the ‘bad apples’ were few, one would think there would be few problems in removing them swiftly. That history says otherwise beggars the truth of that one word; ‘few’.
Who said it didn’t. I simply noted why most cops won’t consider engaging in such behavior.
Yes, it’s that thing that Cop Blockheads forget when it comes to police officers.
Tried selling opiates & swallowed the evidence when he saw the cops.
According to no jury trial. But suppose he did do that – that warrants death, in your opinion?
How do you feel about criticizing police that kill civilians and their buddies that lie about it?
Confiscate cell phones recording them in public (which is totally legal)? Hey you think that may be related to cops lying about their actions?
Throwing a pregnant black woman on the ground and arresting her for not showing a drivers license (you don’t have to in California) after allowing a white woman to verbally identify herself?
So you’re position is how dare we criticize cops for being thugs and murders, thieves and perjurers to cover up their crimes and racists? Go move to Venezuela or an ISIS camp. I’m sure you’ll think it’s a paradise.
Why not. You get the death penalty for being accused by a shopowner selling loosies even though an actual investigation showed no loosies on the perp.
You asked why a cop would risk his case, his career and imprisonment to do that. I was asking you to clarify if by your question, you were implying that it didn’t ever happen, because cops would be unwilling to risk all of that just to give some lowlife - or suspected lowlife, really- some payback.
You can tell I was asking a question because I used a question mark. The framing of the question “are you saying” indicates that I was asking if you were saying that, based on the post I quoted. See how that works?
