I Pit the Empire

I may look for this in my local library, but I am certain the OP won’t read it. Anything that clashes with his naive and childish view of what a communist state is actually run like is ignored, or twisted.

So, he is a perfect reflection of Soviet agit-prop.

Commissar = Trolltskyism.

I gotta admit, hearing someone who touts Belarus as a nation to be emulated, views multiple parties as an unattractive weakness in a country, and who believes in authoritarian politics whine about the US not having room for dissenting opinion is hillarious.

Especially since he’s doing it - from the US. Cracks me up!

Touting as the be all a political structure (Chinese communism) which you’ve never actually lived under, pure hubris. I hate to imagine the depth and dimension of the life lessons that are coming down the chute at you, in the years ahead, shiver!

Not only has he never lived under Chinese communism, he’s never even been to China!

All this talk of China brings to mind the image of tank man standing at the front of the line of PLA tanks in Tiananmen Square back in the late 80s. I wonder what that man would say about life in China. Care to comment commissar?

Morgenstern: I believe you already have his answer to that. Just look at his (non)answer to the issue of the Berlin Wall.

OT, but this is totally untrue. Tibetans make up the majority of Tibet. Always have, always will.

If I were you, I’d sue whoever it is that purportedly educated you in and about the United States of America. You consider yourself a soviet in America and yet you obviously do not know much of either the Communist Party USA or the Socialist Party USA.

Your accusation against me of being an imperialist is both juvenile and asinine. Juvenile because it is merely name-calling. Asinine because the United States is not an empire, something you would know had you gotten a decent education. The US is a democracy. You know the word, don’t you? After all, it seems to be quite popular with dictatorial regimes who pretend that they are governments of the people instead of the murderous dictatorships you love so much.

By the way, if there is no room for dissenting opinion in the United States, why then are you still posting condemnations of the country, its government, and its society? It seems to me that one of those communist dictatorships you love so much not only built a wall around their country but actually murdered their citizens for “succumbing to capitalist propaganda.” You wouldn’t happen to know anything about that, would you, now?

But, alas, you probably won’t be able to respond to this query of mine because, given “the Empire” “leaving no room for dissenting opinion,” you very well may be dead by now, what with all the “dissenting opinion” you’ve recently posted on this site.

Either that or you know absolutely nothing about either democracy or communism, you know absolutely nothing about world history, specifically Eastern European history, and you’ve discovered some nifty words, whose definitions you haven’t bothered to learn yet, in an old book that your mom or dad chucked into the attic after they suffered through a gloomy course in politics.

And the last option is that you’re just a troll.

In short, “Commissar” is (pick one):
[li]Incarcerated or dead due to his dissenting opinion.[/li][li]An elementary or middle/junior high school student who’s having fun typing the big words and seeing them magically appearing to the world, but yet still completely ignorant of politics, international relations, and history.[/li][li]A troll.
[/li]
Cute rant, but largely devoid of content. A couple points, if I may:

(1) You need to catch up on your terminology. There is no rule of logic or linguistics that requires Empires to be ruled by Emperors. We can safely call a nation an “empire” when it routinely engages in imperialistic expansion and the subjugation of weaker states. I take it that your failure to understand this indicates that you are no student of history. Why don’t you start by looking up the Athenian Empire? Here’s a little hint: it didn’t have an emperor.

(2) By “no room for dissent,” I do not mean that I will necessarily be subject to physical repercussions for dissenting (though that’s very possible - I take it you haven’t heard of recent FBI shenanigans either). I simply mean that socialist ideology is intentionally kept out of the Empire’s political discourse, which in turn means that my views cannot be taken into account by your so-called “democracy.” You want to play democracy? How’s this for starters: come up with something better than your current bi-polar one-party state. The presence of voting does not automatically make you a democracy, your ignorant claims to the contrary notwithstanding.

Alright, I’ll look into that when I have some more free time.

However, judging from your own views, I can already pretty much surmise what the book has to say - I assume it will be a reiteration of the same anti-socialist themes that capitalists are always asking me to read. And you know what? I read them, but I’m still not convinced…

What I find interesting, however, is that the capitalists always assume that the anti-socialist books are truth incarnate, whereas anything pro-socialists is the product of a deranged or brainwashed mind. Why do you suppose that is? Even I, as a die-hard Communist, will not claim that Marx was infallible, nor will I dismiss the other side’s ideology out of hand. Why are capitalists so closed-minded, by and large?

I like to imagine that he would have the following to say:

“What the fuck was I thinking? Here I am, living in the greatest, most glorious nation in the history of the world, a country that has cared for me and nurtured me, protected me from capitalism, gave me every opportunity that a man can have in the world! And how did I repay it? By pulling a moronic publicity stunt, thus giving political ammunition to the enemies of my own people? I am an undeserving insect; why did the tank commanders take mercy on me? I am a traitor to my people, a tool of the capitalist enemies, a sorry excuse for a waste of flesh. I must dedicate the rest of my life to atoning for my crimes. Yes, from this day forth, I will work tirelessly for the glory of China, for the glory of socialism, for the glory of the human race!!! Workers of the world unite!”

That’s how I imagine it, anyway.

Yeah, it’s irritating isn’t it? Don’t be so sure you know what the book says, until you read it.(I find she is still leaning heavily socialist, but then, well, I read the book, y’know? ) I didn’t recommend it because it supports my views or yours, but because it describes the experience of idealizing a society you’ve never actually experienced, then the reality of living it, quite well.

Unless they live in the capital, where they are outnumbered by Han Chinese, of course!

First it was “in their own country,” now it’s “in the capital.” Way to move the goalposts, dude. Next you’ll be saying that Han outnumber Tibetans in China-- imagine that!

Han only outnumber Tibetans in Lhasa because they go there for business and Lhasa is, of course, the hub of the Tibetan economy.

You are equating Socialism and Communism, which are 2 different breeds of a related animal, as you should know.

There are those here in the US that have little to no problem with the idea of a much more Socialized society.

But given the myriad examples of the failure of a Marxist Communist state, we have good reason to dismiss anything that is “pro” to that viewpoint. Do you understand that, at least? That there isn’t a Communist state that is a success yet? China is Communist in name only at this point, as is Vietnam. North Korea is a sucking chest wound on Asia, and Cuba is a failed state on just about every level (independant of the US trade embargo, I might add).

Troll. Trollity Troll McTrollerson.

What I “understand” is that pro-capitalism fanatics will go to any lengths to justify their bizarre theories; lies, misrepresentations, and blind denial are the very tools of their trade.

China and Vietnam aren’t socialist? According to whom? Oh, according to the person with the vested interest in making that determination - the truth undermines your entire premise (i.e. that socialism has yet to succeed), so you simply ignore the inconvenient facts. Very nice. Keep this up, and I see a bright career with the Teabaggers in your immediate future.

And Cuba “is a failed state on just about every level…?” How about on the level of Caribbean island states? You do realize that they tend not to be economic powerhouses, right? Instead of comparing Cuba to the Empire, why don’t you compare it to, say, Haiti? If you’re truly so ignorant that you’ll argue that Cubans are worse off than Haitians, all I can do is shake my head in sadness.

And North Korea? Alright, I’ll give you that one. They can do a lot better, and I believe that they will; in the past years, there have been some hints of a gradual transition to Chinese-style socialism. I think that things are really looking up for North Korea.

So, overall, your argument is uneducated and deceitful. You simply cannot support a stupid argument by ignoring the truth and expect to be taken seriously. Socialism has a pretty good track record, all things considered, and certainly seems to work out a lot more often than does capitalism.

Now you’re just plain making up stories.

If you go back and read again the part of Tristan’s post that you quoted, you will find that the word used by him was “Communist”. While we’re speaking of, y’know, “lies, misrepresentations, and blind denial”.

There’s also the assertion by revisionists that the Chinese were provoked into invading Tibet but as we all know, the Han shot first.
I am so going to hell for that one.

I like how you ask to compare Cuba on the level of the Caribbean island states and then pick the worst one. Nice! Communism is just above decades of corrupt dictatorships and recent massive natural disasters. Way to go communism!
