You seem to misunderstand the SMDB in-joke genre. Pun cascades are a) too lame even for SMDB in-jokes, and b) at best, mildly funny only within their own thread.
Making Mrs O’Malley’s Idiot Cow part of an in-joke may have the unfortunate side effect of making her feel loved, which might encourage her not to go the fuck away.
The puns are not the injoke in themselves. It is the new SDMB specific meaning to “Don’t have a cow” which could be use to denote, don’t be too thin skins about others Posts. But I guess that was too retarded for you to comprehend.

What are you even talking about? I don’t mean offense here, but you’ve completely stopped making sense. That’s what “don’t have a cow” always meant - don’t overreact. If you think that you’ve come up with some new SDMB-specific phrase, you’ve failed. And if you think it’s funny or clever, you’ve failed miserably.
In-jokes can be funny. It’s absolutely guaranteed, though, that when some idiot desperately tries to convince everyone around him to join in some new in-joke, it’s not funny. It’s lame and pathetic. Look, I get it. You don’t have friends in real life, so you have to try way too hard when you’re online. I’m very sorry. You have my pity. But that doesn’t make a catchphrase from The Simpsons that they haven’t used in fifteen years suddenly funny.
While you’re off, you might want to work on your capitalization and punctuation. For instance, “Does that make you feel better.” is actually a question, and normally questions end with question marks (they’re these squiggly things: ? Neat, huh? <-- See, I just used one! Punctuation is fun!) I’m starting to notice that you seem to have a serious problem with these things; it’s worth working on, since in a text-only medium like this one, that’s the face you’re putting forward. You might want to endeavor to make that face not suggest “drunken elementary-school dropout.”
I made a small off hand comment in response to your post. This is quite often called an example. As in, this is not meant to be taken as a fact or accurate. If you look at my post that I made that set you off, I did not make a specific reference to any phrase.
This thread reminded me of both the “Infamous Sheep” thread and the “I burning your dog” thread. If I am wrong, that is fine and by next week, everyone will have largely forgotten this thread existed.

There are a lot of people on this board who confuse self-assuredness and pomposity with intelligence, and exposure to them is one of the prices you pay on this board. I don’t know anywhere in the world one can go seeking intelligent answers and not receive some chaffe needing winnowing out.

I already made my point. That was what I posted, my point. I’d like to add another, one, though: Your reaction seems completely over the top to me. I can’t begin to imagine why his sad little in-joke comment would provoke such an emotional/physical reaction in you, but you’re coming off kind of like a jock who likes to punch dorks in the head because they go around dorkily dorking all the time and it just makes him see red.
Jim is goofy sometimes, sure; smug I don’t see, I see a genuinely kind man who believes in a harmonious board, but isn’t obsessed with handing everybody flowers and huggles or anything like that. Why he annoys you so much is beyond me, but so is why he gets under your skin so badly you can’t just ignore him.
Count me in too with Ensign Edison. I don’t always agree with what What Exit? says, but I’ve never found him to be anything but an admirable fellow Doper, and I saw *no * indication of desperation in *any * of his posts. Even if there were (and there isn’t), why would you jump all over it? It would be sad rather than offensive.
