Was the string of question marks really necessary? No? Then stop doing that shit. If there was a question in there, I missed it because I was busy deleting your question marks. If there wasn’t a question, then don’t use a question mark. If there is a question, one question mark should suffice.
We don’t, we hate tolls! You’re gonna collect taxes from me while I’m driving?! How fuckin’ un-American can ya get?! George III never had such brass ones!
I like him. There, I said it. I don’t know why, exactly, but he is interesting.
You all jump on people as being trolls too quickly. For example, PSXer, when he started posting here, had a series of some of the most clever OPs in my memory. “My friend wants to know.” “Mental girlfriend.” Laserdiscs. That shit is genuis, but some people told him to shut up. They said he wasn’t funny. Well, nobody is laughing now!
Sadly I believe that is the consensus (not owning a computer). Last time I dinged him for his poor writing skills (and I usually don’t unless the errors start to detract from the easiness of reading their posts), he said that touchscreens are hard to type on. Also, I have never seen him provide a citation and I rarely see him use the “quote” button which is also annoying.
On a board that I have just started running, we actually have it as a warnable offense to use horrid writing skills if it is so bad that it looks like Yahoo! Answers or Tollhouse’s or shadowofneo’s posts.
Personally, I like him as a poster and find him interesting too, but his gross number of writing errors makes me skip over many of his posts. You should remember that while I believe that posts should be coherent and contain little or no writing errors, I very rarely call anyone out on it seriously unless it really starts to detract from easiness of reading, and unfortunately, that is what is happening with Tollhouse and shadowofneo.
What irritates me the most is incorrect punctuation and capitalization. I make spelling errors occasionally (especially if I am posting from a smartphone), and tolerate them to some extent. What really detracts from fluid reading is if you have run-on sentences that contain incorrect capitalization. That’s what irks me the most.
Oh, by the way, I just wanted to share this from my first thread on the SDMB when I tried using voice recognition to post from a smartphone:
Although, I admit it wasn’t purely voice recognition. I did go back and tried to fix some errors that I found.
