I pit Warners Independent Pictures for Not Releasing Strangers with Candy!

In this day and litigious age, how can a company as big as Warners not have its shit together legally?

Now as a result of its stupidity, the theatrical release of Amy Sedaris’ Strangers with Candy, next to Arrested Development and Curb Your Enthusiasm one of the funniest tv shows I’v seen in the last decade, is jammed up.

I pit thee ignorant movie mogul bastardos!

I’m thinking the ensuing discussion in this thread will be more well-suited to Cafe Society than the Pit. If not, well, then I’ll see you back here.

Read much?

Bolding mine.

I see no stupidity on Warner’s part here. The OP, on the other hand…

Um, maybe that it was stupid on WIP’s part not to have figured this out sooner? That’s what all their lawyers are for, dink.

I’m gonna take a wild guess and say this was a problem for a while, and that they’ve decided now that it’s too uncertain or too much of a problem. So I’m thinking there’s no stupidity on the part of the lawyers.

Sigh. I’ve been looking forward to this movie for over a year. Strangers With Candy is one of my favorite shows ever. I can only hope someone else picks it up, but I’m thinking that won’t be likely. :frowning:

Please note: although this thread started in the Pit, it was Giraffed to Cafe Society.

Consequently, you may say what you will about Warners, its attorneys, Variety, U.S. laws on copyright infringement, or whatever… however, you may NOT insult other posters. Q.E.D., your comment is thus out of line. (I understand that you thought this was still the Pit, so you get off with a mild frown from me, but let’s all watch it in future, eh?)
[sub]We haven’t figured out how to handle the situation where one of Warner’s lawyers is a poster, but I guess we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.[/sub]

In that case, let me apologize to the fellow, nothing personal, just generally upset that Candy’s future is apparently up in the air.
