I pitt D'Anconia

I’m hoping he doesn’t get banned for this particular infraction. I know it’s the latest in a long line of hijacking, but this one was really minor, in my view. The wailing and gnashing of teeth in ATMB for that will be epic.

So, business as usual. Every engagement is just an excuse to reiterate what he did not like about [whatever] in the first place all over again.

(aside)
BTW something that’s been nagging at me: the title of this thread should be “I Pit D’Anconia”, as in taking him to the Pit. Not to the University of Pittsburgh.
(/aside)

I think that’s a worse punishment than being talked about in the Pit.

Straws and camels. “They’ve done lots worse over the years and this is pretty minor in comparison” is a liminal space that problematic posters have fallen into before. It generally means they’re becoming better trolls - not that they’re becoming better members of the community.

If this isn’t the last straw, I won’t lose any sleep over it. If it is, the ever-dwindling list of usual suspects can wail and gnash all they like.

My BS is from Pitt. Just saying.

ETA: my daughter’s BS is from Penn State. We kid each other all the time, I buy her Pitt stuff and she buys me Penn State stuff.

But he pretended to be clueless, asking what Limbaugh has to do with it. Non members of Congress have been invited since at least Reagan. At least Bono wasn’t used as a prop like most of these guests. (I’m assuming, since I didn’t watch it)

Exactly right. This poster is actively making the board worse, by intentionally aggravating posters and taking up moderators’ time. If they’re not banned now, they’ll derail threads again, and the moderators will have to discuss again. Better to to be done with it.

I assume bitching about the presence of Tyre Nichols’ family would have been too obvious.

Or Paul Pelosi.

Sure he’s a prop. He’s a very high-quality one, certainly, but prop he is. Just like every single notable person invited to the SotU. It’s neither surprising nor upsetting: just how it works. Whoever invites the best/worst guests gets screen time and coverage, and extra consideration from voters/groups who love said guests.

And if you’re powerful enough to swing a cool guest, you get to hang out with them.

Agreed. I mean he wasn’t used as “here is poor Jimmy, who’s father died when a bank robber shot up the place”

More than fair.

Agreed. In fact, his behavior in that thread was little more than an attempt to rile “the libs” in my opinion. Before he got on the Bono hijack he had already taken a swipe at Nancy Pelosi (post #3) and then called the President “Gramps” in post #33. Since those didn’t get the desired reaction across the board he started harping on about Bono.

And sometimes you get Bono. But you make a good point over all.

That’s a fair point - it wasn’t an isolated off-the-cuff comment but rather part of a pattern of low-grade trolling. Which puts a different spin on it.

Maybe I’m just overly trusting in nature, but i took it as him hating Biden and just expressing his annoyance with whatever aspects of the affair caught his attention.

Yeah, well, he’d have been there with or without you.

You too, huh?

That’s it, thread bans for both of you!

There’s a reason he’s referred to as D’Asshole. Check out some of his earliest posts in this thread:
