I predict a PANIC in the streets. (this is just not fair)

DIL was going to Walmart. I told her to get me a few things. One of these things were ‘Steak-ums’
These are very thin frozen pieces of beef. It takes about 2 seconds to heat in a saute’ pan. A steak sammich in mere minutes. I love them (as much as Corndogs? No.) I wanted them ‘Steak-ums’
DIL reports Walmart will not carry them anymore. Seems I’m the only freakin’ person in the whole freakin’ world who bought them.
I’m in a PANIC!!
Never seen them in any grocery store I’ve been to.
Not fair Walmart. Not fair!!
I may picket and boycott…oh, But first I gotta go in Walmart to get poster making supplies(I may need some other things too, since I’m going anyway) :smack:

Just that Walmart, or all Walmarts?

Not sure. I’m going to Texarkana Weds. I’m gonna look at Sam’s club.

From here

The manufacturer’s website has a page to locate the vendor nearest to your ZIP code:

Amazon has a couple of brands of “Philly seasoned beef sandwich slices”.

Kayaker–Don’t harsh on my Steak-um mellow. (:))

In other news, I got a email today informing me that Sonic was having 50 cent corndogs tomorrow.

IME, minus the words “all the,” the word “trimmings” by itself is seldom indicative of good eats.

Is that true? Are you toying with me?

No he ain’t: https://www.eatdrinkdeals.com/sonic-specials-sonic-coupons/

We’re always thinking of you Beck. Even from three or four thousand miles away.

I’m still hung up on “emulsified.”
~VOW

Sounds like the filler in frankfurters. A patty-shaped sausage or finely-minced patty.

Some may cal! It pink slime. I call it lunch.

Forty years ago, when I was a schoolkid, sandwiches made with Steak-umms were a regular after-school snack. (At another point, the go-to snack was little pseudo pizzas made with English muffins, jarred pizza sauce and shredded cheese.)

When I was in business school, we had a guest lecturer in our market research class: the director of market research at Oscar Mayer.

At the end of the lecture, he asked the class for questions. My friend asked, “So, what do you really put in the hot dogs?”

His answer was, I swear: “Ohh, good stuff. Stuff you’d eat. Meat.”

“Emulsified” doesn’t necessarily mean it’s all nasty stuff. I’ve made emulsified sausages and loafs here. It’s basically just meat really finely ground into a paste with fat, like hot dogs, mortadella, pate, bologna, gyros cones, etc. I mean, sure, in this case it’s trimmings, but, on its own, “emulsified meat” does not mean anything disgusting.

Not listening!

I want steak-ums!
Stoopid Walmart!

I happened to have the Walmart grocery app open and according to that, Steak-ums are still available here. But to me they are an unholy combination of expensive and bland, so I haven’t bought any in years.

If you want something quick, Walmart (and other groceries) also sell packages of Hormel Slow Simmered Beef Roast Au Jus. Not the healthiest thing on the planet, but it comes fully cooked so you can just heat it up and it makes some pretty righteous cheesesteak or French dip sandwiches. Their Herb Rubbed Italian Style beef roast is better/healthier, but not as easy to come by, at least here.

My Walmart app shows them. But it also says ‘not in stock’
DIL assured me she asked an employee who was stacking ‘hot pockets’ where they moved them to. He called someone else. This person had a price gun. Apparently this device told her there weren’t any and they would not be there anymore.
Bad move Walmart. Beck ain’t happy.(:()
Think I’ll call Corporate HQ.
