I predict that Donald Trump will not serve a second term as POTUS.

Or a Nixon.

Well for one he isn’t president so as president he has done nothing let alone anything wrong. The Carrier deal which was really something that Pence was doing as governor is no different than what my local mayor does to keep or bring in businesses and what Governors do all the time. And I don’t give a shit if China doesn’t like their game exposed. Taiwan has always been our ally and we sell them billions of dollars of arms but a phone call is going to make China throw a tantrum? Tough. They seemed to have figured out how to deal with it. Yeah thin skinned, stupid tweets, stupid antagonism with the press…I hope he tones it down but I doubt it.

He’s not going to resign. Other than for health reasons which can’t be predicted he will serve 4 years and run again. If I had to predict he will run the presidency like he runs his company. Trusting to his managers to run their areas while he makes deals. There will be dozens of stories like the Carrier deal that should be taken care of at a lower level but he will micromanage and tout as victories. His approval and chances for reelection will depend on how people are feeling it in their wallets and how many of those victories he can show.

Because, clearly, it’s perfectly reasonable and not hysterical at all to believe that military cadets cheering for the president-elect when he’s attending their game means they’re willing ditch their oaths and support a military dictatorship.

You are following the BS he’s causing with the One China policy, right? What’s so bad about this is that this is one example of doing NOTHING at all, that’s right, NOTHING would be the correct thing to do. But Trump is set on pissing China off and intent on starting a trade war. Trump is about as smart as a genital wart when it comes to foreign policy.

Aye, Morgenstern; I think the Taiwan call was a bigger deal than some people are willing to acknowledge.[

](http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/A/AS_CHINA_TRUMP_ASOL-?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2016-12-12-05-11-11)Mr. Trump seems to think that every deal is negotiable, except for his side, which can do whatever it wants. I base that on the numerous reports of his stiffing contractors after they have fulfilled their side of the bargain. The difference in international trade (and in military disputes) is that there are no teams of lawyers that are going to send angry letters to a hapless shopkeep telling him to shut up. I don’t think China will simply roll over like an Atlantic City drapery shop owner who is facing bankruptcy when Mr. Trump tries to abrogate treaties and/or trade deals, especially knowing that he expects them to take several steps backward.

The big question is will not worrying about a second term make him a better or worse President?

How realistic is it that the Republican power brokers are ready to invoke the 25th amendment real soon after the swearing in so that we have 4 years of President Pence? It’s a win win from their perspective.

It’s about as realistic as Trump being grabbed by aliens and taken away for probing.

Oh good lord no. In fact, one of my theories is that Trump chose Pence in part as insurance against assassination. (Note: I am NOT endorsing assassinating the president.)

Well that was also the theory about why George H. W. Bush picked Dan Quayle as his Veep back in the '80s.

He’ll get two terms, unfortunately.

I’m with the folks guessing he’ll be one and done. As long as nobody tells him “I bet you can’t win a second term!” He does not seem to like the requirements of the job.

Who says the USA will exist in any sense beyond the highly theoretical in January 2021?
