I think this is one of them.
Lot’s of room for tempers to get in the way, but things always look different tomorrow, and in a week all is forgotten in a sea of new events.

Eutychus55 do what you need to. Give him his space. Sometimes you need step back, calm down, and assess what is bothering you. I know he’s liked by many people, and this is a good show of support.
I personally wouldn’t want to spend all my time moderating the troublemakers. It kind of takes the fun out of being on the board. I would think a job where you get hassled by most people you interact with, tends to bring you down. I’m sure we’ll hear from him again.
“You can never go back.” seems like a good quote here. You can try real hard to have things the same as before, but they never are. I’m hoping in the end things, change for the better for him, even if it’s not what we want.

Eutychus… I know that I am still a newbie… I know that I may not be most liked and respected… and I know that I am young. but I know a good person when I see one. You are a good person. Many a time I have turned to my Fellow dopers, and many a time they have helped me out with their kind words and their wit and humor. I am hoping that before you do something that is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, you will read this thread with an open mind and heart. I do no know the nature of your problem, and I probably can’t fix it. But we are good at flattering, entertaining, and trying to help you forget about whatever is wrong. Please come back Euty. We miss you.

Phobia put it well; moderating here is thankless task other than the obsessive, grateful allure of being in the thick of it and helping.
Selfishly, I hope Euty is just (!?) quitting smoking, because isn’t this the day?
But I doubt it, because Euty isn’t the kind to dangle people. And it was a selfish wish, because who else could meld good sense, kindness, Gilbert & Sullivan riffs and Doper-oriented perspective?
All else is noise and brouhaha…most of all I hope Euty is fine: the person behind the board role. We–all of us–are in debt to his sharing, giving, as much as he has.

What gives? I’ve read your SD columns and they’re quite good. Since I’m still relatively new to SD, I don’t think I can qualify in shedding tears for your departure but nonetheless, I am curious as to why you start a commotion with these two simple yet mysterious words?
