I’m in stealth mode. It always seemed like a good idea not to let ne’erdowells know when the Pit was unwatched. Instead, like Sauron’s eye, I am all-seeing. I’ll probably change it back to normal at some point.
Speaking of stealth mode, I’m about to leave the house for the rest of the day, so any further questions directed at me won’t be answered until tonight or tomorrow.
In the Pit, I consider that a Valentine. 
Fuck. Must be a mod perk. When I put mine in that setting, it announces to the world “This sad fuck is in stealth mode!” or words to that effect.
Sorry to see you take off the jackboots, Giraffe. They fit you well, and were put to good use.
Damn. You’ve been one of my favorite Mods evah, on here and any other board. It just won’t be the Pit without you and your foot long prehensile tongue in charge.
The Boards will be the lesser without your moderating.
What a shame. You did a great job. I don’t like the direction things have been going either. Good on you for sticking to your principles even though The Pit will be a poorer place for it.

I’m sorry to hear it–you and I never had a lot of interaction (not from any animosity, our paths just didn’t seem to cross much)
Much like Veb when she was a mod, you had both an openness and a willingness to treat members as grown-ups in the Pit in particular, that was very nice. I admired the hell out of your decision to open the Pit rules up to member discussion and revise them. That was one of the SDMB’s high-water marks, IMO.
In any case, thanks for a great job of moderating and hope you enjoy the boards as a member!

I’ll miss **Giraffe’s ** most excellent modding, but since I’m a bright-side kind of girl, now I’ll just be pleased that his new non-moderator status renders my little crush somewhat less embarrasing. 
Nothing much to add but just wanted to say, of all the moderators I took notice of and remembered how they presented over time, you not only posted intelligently but modded that way as well, an unfortunately rare combination.
Also glad to see you’re a man of principle but I gotta ask: didn’t you know before you accepted the job 'lo those many years ago that Ed would someday come along and set a tone for the Pit that you couldn’t live with? Explain why you accepted then backed out now.
Thanks for doing so well a job I wouldn’t accept if nominated and would not serve in if elected.

I have no idea what is going on behind the scenes and I don’t want to know. I only hope that TPTB understand that Modding appears to be an Impossible Job. Giraffe did it well and with grace–he made it look easy. Hell, he even stepped down graciously (and gracefully). Class act, my prehensile-tongued friend. Well done.

Oh for crap’s sake. This is a real shame. Giraffe, you have long been my favorite mod here, with an ideally-suited temperament, sense of humor and judgment for the job. I can’t think of another moderator whose rulings I’ve agreed with more. (Though TVeblen came awfully close.) I’m not a doom ‘n’ gloomer, constantly bemoaning what’s happening at the SDMB, but IMO the fact that you’re leaving – the reason why you’re leaving – sends a bucket of ice-cold water into my face regarding the state of the SDMB community.
Thanks for all your hard work. You’ve done a yeoman’s job and the Pit won’t be nearly as enjoyable without knowing you’re looking over things.
Glad you’ll be sticking around. Just don’t turn bitter like certain other ex-mods, 'kay? That’d be a right shame.
