She already announced it in my resignation thread, but it really deserves a thread of its own. fluiddruid was critical to the Pit running as smoothly as it did for the last few years. She moderated with a deft touch, but behind the scenes she was consistently a strong voice for free speech and a staunch advocate for the rights of posters whom she felt were within the rules – more than a few times, she was a voice of reason speaking out against an initial consensus and ultimately steering the group to make a more fair and reasoned decision. As she is still a moderator, I am sure she will continue to be so, but serving with her in the Pit was a pleasure and a privilege and I don’t want my stepping down to overshadow her contributions here.
fluiddruid, you were a great Pit mod. It was an absolute pleasure working with you here.
Whole heartedly agree. I once started a thread (though it was not in anger) questioning one of her decisions. She reacted with grace and style, as is her habit. She indeed deserves kudos and thanks for a job well done.
Thank you very much for your efforts on our behalf, fluiddruid. I don’t imagine moderating the Pit is a whole lot of fun, but you and Giraffe have performed the job both smoothly and well. You will be missed.
Yes, she absolutely does deserve her own thread. fluiddruid, you’re a fine moderator and were one of the things that made the Pit the enjoyable, mad den of…um…madness that it was.
However, thanks to past games of Mafia, I still think “scum!” every time I see your name. I hope you don’t mind.
While this thread might not get all the attention of the other(and don’t get me wrong here, Giraffe, I liked you too,) you were the best of all possible Pit mods.
Actually, I thought fluiddruid was a pretty lame Pit moderator, thinking particularly when he told someone not to insult someone in the Pit because he only used “a bunch of unoriginal, parroted joke-book insults”.
But hey, if he was the enlightened warrior for free speech behind the scenes, I guess I had him all wrong.
