Mod Nazis pitting members - stats

Backgound:

In Ed Zotti’s thread About Persephone and Dex, Ed has apparently introduced a new rule:

That’s Ed’s right to do.

Stats:

So how often have members been pitted by mods and admins? Below are the figures, showing the number of members that each mod/admin has started a pit thread about, the total number of pit threads started by that mod/admin, and the members involved.

6/23** John Corrado (Dianne, Silo - banning explanation, curious george + Chronolict + JDM + Chas. E.)

6/18 Lynn Bodoni (OgreFade, RosieWolf, Idnew, wardensu, Little Potato, Du_Hast)

5/28 Eutychus (Snark Hunter, kniz, Eutychus (3 times ), johnnygeneric, Fenris)

4/22 Coldfire (Homer, Mr. Socko, Serlin, FarrisGoldstein,)

Notes:

The stats aren’t perfect, because:

  1. They include incidents before that person became a mod/admin and/or after that person ceased to be a mod/admin.

  2. Some of the threads are explanations/announcements.

  3. Some mods/admins, notably Lynn Bodoni, created threads as official warnings to individual members.

Well. Given those results, I’d say the staff is pretty civil towards you, loud unmannered ungrateful peasants that y’all are.

Overkill Desmo… overkill…

Some things in life just aren’t worth dredging up. To dredge up such things says more about the perpetrator than the facts it seems to me.

How long did that take you to do?

What exactly is the point of this thread? To point out that mods/admins have pitted people in the past? We all know that. And now perhaps they won’t. But any discussion of that could remain in Ed Zotti’s thread, surely.

Take it easy, Boo Boo Foo.

I don’t have any axe to grind with any of the moderators or administrators.

The title of the thread, “Mod Nazi…” is just a continuation of a series of stats.

There’s no judgement on my part of the rightness or wrongness of any of it, it’s just numbers that might allow some perspective about a particular argument that’s currently running.

Weren’t we asked to cease the mod races? Hm?

I take that back, because I did insert rolleyes at two particular points. That’s the full extent of my judgement of the issue.

This is wholly unfair. With the new administrative rulings in place, the rankings can’t be changed. There’s no competition possible. No motivation. Such a thing can only cause morale problems.

This is a bit different, coz the mods are no longer allowed to increase their stats.

Yeah, what Drastic said.

Okey Dokey… fair enough… no hard feelings.

All of this stuff is quite perplexing to myself, and I suspect a fair few others if truth be known.

It looked at first as though you were trying to stir the pot Desmo, but hey, I trust ya. I understand now.

Peace, Love, Dove and Frog’s Legs!

I don’t think Desmostylus is starting up any new “mod race”. Just presenting facts. I’ve seen this stuff from the ATMB, in **Desmostylus’ ** early days. Interesting stats, mate.

Okay, taking this more in the spirit with which it was posted…

So he began 23 threads about 6 people? That must mean there were many that weren’t about/directed at a single person; they were just rants?

Juuuuuust making sure.

No. Corrado started 23 pit threads, 6 of which were aimed at SDMB posters.

Right?

Oh, that’s what I meant. Six were aimed at actual people on here, the others were not.

That’s pretty much it. TVeblen, for example, has started 7 pit threads, none of which were about any individual member.

How many of those threads were “pittings” in the classic sense, though? By that I mean acting like a regular member and “calling out” another poster.

I remember a few of them, like John Corrado’s warning thread in which he posted as a Moderator to inform three members that they were on the edge. There also seem to be a few informational notices and explanations as well, which aren’t the type of thing the new rule addresses.

Well, those three members would be curious george + Chronolict + JDM + Chas. E. Or was that four? And maybe I forgot to say:

Fucking idiot.

Okay, right. There were four of them.

I realize that you listed three qualifications, and recognized that “the stats aren’t perfect”. I’m saying they aren’t even useful, until you eliminate the threads to which Ed’s new rule isn’t applicable.

I think we would have to look at each one individually and determine what it was before including it in a list of “pittings.”

Which I even did, in the cited instance where Arnold Winkelried Pitted me (because I didn’t remember it).

If that was a Pitting, it was the nicest, most restrained Pitting in SDMB history. I mean, he didn’t even say “fuck” or make reference to my reading comprehension.

Maybe he’s just nicer than the other mods - [abject grovelling]not that the other mods aren’t entirely a combination of Albert Einstein, Mother Teresa, with a dash either of Brad Pitt or Paula Abdul, depending on gender [/abject groveling], but how can you count it as a Pitting unless someone gets compared to a herpes lesion or something?

We now return you to your regularly scheduled meltdown.

Regards,
Shodan
