Just 5 hours earlier, in the Edwtf thread Sapo was banned by Dex for using the term “FOAD” towards Bodoni which was interpreted as a wish for Bodini to be dead.
I’m speculating that Bodoni,not wishing to ban Sapo herself, reported a “bad post” to Giraffe in which he declined to take action. Bodoni them must have gone over Giraffe’s head to Dex who complied with her.
It’s been explained to me that that’s just the way the software works. You have to ban someone before you can suspend him. And sometimes it takes time for that to work.
Wow. It’s too bad you had to quit just a few days before the huge bonus they’re going to… oh, wait… Didn’t you get the memo? Oops.

Bannings can be for varying lengths of time, from one day to permanent. That automatically changes the poster’s title to ‘BANNED’. An admin has to manually change the title to ‘Suspended’ if appropriate.
So I sort of had it right, if you kind of squint at it sideways and use a mirror? Cool.

Exactly right. And as **Dex **noted in the other thread, we’re discussing the issue.
The software allows for all sorts of things. vB has a comprehensive suspension/banning/warning system. The admins/mods don’t appear to have utilized it.*
Even without using the bells and whistles of the vB software, all they’d need to do is create another usergroup called SUSPENDED, based off of the BANNED group, and use that for people they suspend. Takes a grand total of five minutes … and that’s only if you’re moving sluggishly.

You did a good job Giraffe, sorry to see you step down. I’m always thankful that anybody is interested in that thankless job. It seems to me like it would be a bit like assistant supervisors at my job - the worst of all possible worlds, pressure from above, while getting reamed from below.
So I hope you’ll enjoy being a civvy again. Life ( err, posting ) without responsibility certainly seems like it would have its appeal :).

And I agree, the moderating in the pit has been excellent. Good for you standing up for what you feel is right though.
