I really really like this and I don't care what you think!!

Common People from William Shatner’s Has Been rocks very, very hard.

I’ve only heard it once, but I tend to agree. Shatner picked a song where he limited singing range was an asset, and the arrangement is pretty good.

In my case, I really like Ishtar. Very funny movie.

Ben Folds, who produced the song, was in town (Louisville, KY) for a concert some time back. He stopped the show, and had the audience just sing different lines that he fed them. He announced that it was going to be used in a song.

If you check the credits for Common People, it includes (I think it’s listed as) “the Louisville Chorus.”

A friend of mine was at the show.

don’t ask, welcome to the holy see of the Church of Shatnerology. Your fat-restrait girdle and autographed copy of Transformed Man are in the mail. Be sure to tune into ABC on Sunday Evenings to watch the Exalted One on Boston Legal. Be sure to wear your secret decoder ring.

Shatner and Joe Jackson’s “Common People” is one of the best SONGS released in 2004, and the entire Has Been album was brilliant and fun. Shatner and Ben Folds put a pop masterpiece together. It really is that good, and people who roll their eyes or think of Shatner’s silly and self-indulgent “Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds” don’t know what they’re missing. The new album has a lot of heart and humor, and it’s clear everyone is having a great time on it.

Can I just say that I’ve never given a shit about Star Trek, but I love Shatner for Boston Legal and his musical career?

If you missed Shatner and Joe Jackson singing this with Ben Folds on the Tonight Show a few months back, hope for a rerun.

I haven’t heard Has Been yet, but I said it before and I’ll say it again, Shatner’s In Love with Ben Folds is the best song ever recorded. Every time I listen to it, I love it a little bit more.

I came in here to say the exact same thing. No one has recorded a song like that before. Ever. It’s unique and great in so many ways.

I love Shatner and Henry Rollins in “I Can’t Get Behind That.” Cracked me up the first time I heard it. “That’s too much knowledge!”
