I saw Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank live!

Well, not in costume; they were appearing as Trace Beaulieu and Frank Conniff. But I did see them do their act, live, at an art-house theater in Pittsburgh. They sat in the front row, with microphones and iPads, and made their comments. First they riffed on a short about office etiquette; then the feature was…Glen or Glenda!:cool::stuck_out_tongue:

It was hilarious. I’m beyond stoked that I finally got to see/hear them do an Ed Wood film. And the act was less constrained than on TV. There were a few F-bombs, and more salty comments (“Angora makes me come”). There was a shot with a character in silhouette, and one of them remarked, “Silhouettes are so lame!” (Took a split second for the audience to absorb that!) Also, because this was Pittsburgh, when a character went into a diner: “Is this the place with the fries in the sandwiches?” They’re touring the US with this act; I wonder what specific jokes they have for other cities.

They took questions afterwards, and then had a signing. Mr. Rilch got a poster and had it signed; our friend got a t-shirt, and we all got selfies. I met Trace Beaulieu at Comic-Con, years ago, I think during the Joel era, so it’ll be interesting to see those two photos side-by-side. All in all, an evening to remember. (And as an early birthday present for Mr. Rilch, it’s hard to beat!)

Cool! I got to see Mike, Kevin, and Bill do a live RiffTrax on Daredevil a few years ago. Afterwards, I got Mike to sign my DVD of the MST movie, and take a picture of the two of us getting high on Sharpie fumes.

I got to see them a few weeks ago here in Virginia at our local Alamo Drafthouse. Tons of fun. We came to both shows, because. Alamo! Also because the first one was so good and we heard that the next night would be a different movie. It was.

I don’t remember the title of the first movie but it was baaaaad. Trace joked during their intro that it was so bad it wasn’t even shot on film, it was shot on shag carpet. He wasn’t far off - it was beyond grainy and had atrocious lighting.

The next night they did Glen and Glenda. I’d never seen that before. It was… well. I told my husband that I honestly couldn’t decide if the movie was pro or anti transvestite because it’s attitude about the topic seemed to change back and forth at will. I don’t remember their riffing, but both nights were tons of fun. I’m amazed at how Frank looks a little older but very much just like he did in the original MST3K. I didn’t recognize Trace, though, and husband had to tell me who he was.
