On a whim, i checked the Rifftrax website to see what the next… “Experiment” will be
Daredevil, and it’s being riffed by Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett!!, i may just have to buy a copy of Daredevil then…
Now, all we need to get on Rifftrax is Joel Hodgson, Frank Connif, Trace Beli…Belei…Belie… errr…Crow/Doctor Forrester, and Mary Jo Pehl (basically any Best Brains staffer who was ever “in the theatre” riffing…)
Hmm, wonder if this Rifftrax will have any overt MST3K references…
I’ve always wanted to see “A” movies get riffed by MST. I may just rent some of these turkeys, though. I hate the thought of contributing my $$ to crappy movies.
I will definitely tell Mrs. Evil Captor, a major MST3K fan, about this. She knew about Mike Nelson and Rifftrax already, but I don’t know that she knew about the other MST3Kers on Rifftrax.
Absolutely. Netflix + Rifftrax is a strong combination.
Sadly, I haven’t done many Rifftrax lately. They started putting them out faster than I could keep up with, and then my Netflix queue got full of Babylon 5 DVDs. I’m definitely going to have to check the Daredevil one out, though.
Nope, theatrical release only, i suppose thats good (or bad) depending on how you look at it, never seen DD myself, but i understand the theatrical release is cheesier
As it happens, I saw them riff Daredevil last night. Live, in a theater in downtown San Rafael. Almost certainly, the only time in history that the movie Daredevil received a standing ovation after it ended. Also the only time in history anyone has shelled out $25 to watch Daredevil and felt it was money well spent. This was the third Rifftrax movie I’ve watched (the other two were The Matrix and Reign of Fire), and far and away the funniest, although that might have been a side-effect of seeing it in theater full of people laughing their asses off.
There was a Q&A session afterwards, and someone asked if any of them were still in contact with Joel. Apparently, they are not, so the chances of Joel showing up in future Rifftrax is unlikely. No word on other MST alums.
Anyone living near San Francisco, they’re doing another show in the city tonight, but I don’t know if tickets are still available.
teela, the FotR Rifftrax is for the theatrical cut, not the directors cut.
I got the Lord of the Rings one last week to sample Rifftrax and see if the magic was still there. I figured it would be best to try a movie that I knew I could sit through than going to one of the painful disasters they riffed. I enjoyed it and will be getting more, probably sticking with movies that I can sit through even without Rifftrax first and then moving up to things like Roadhouse and Crossroads.
Just a bump to announce my first Rifftrax last night – LOTR:FOTR. I fell on the floor, bust a gut, wet myself, and had a stroke. Yes, it was quite good. (And I’m a huge LOTR fan).
Unfortunately that exhausted the supply of DVDs I already have on hand…so my next one will require a rental. I’m thinking Island of Dr Moreau.
We just watched the Rifftrax of The matrix. Hilarious. One line during the orgy of violence alone was worth it. I especially enjoyed the characterization of the agents as LDS missionaries. We about died laughing.
We have also seen Reign of fire and Star Wars ep.1–both were great.
Its funny, I just finished watching The Grudge with the Rifftrax, the first one that I’ve actually gone out and bought the movie for the Rifftrax. Next up for me is Daredevil and now that they have Battlefield Earth I can’t resist that one. Then I think it’s time to start going back and filling in the painful ones…
