Rifftrax; MST3K crossover references...

I just downloaded 3 Rifftrax files (LOTR, X-Men, and The Matrix), LOTR and Matrix are riffed on by Mike and Kevin, X-Men by Mike and Bill

LOTR was for the original theatrical release, and i have the extended directors cut, so i guess i’ll have to rent the theatrical LOTR to get the best results from the Rifftrax

anyway, both Matrix and X-Men were great Rifftrax, try as i might, i still can’t see Bill and Kevin in anything but their MST3K characters, in my mind, it’s not Mike and Kevin or Mike and Bill riffing, it’s Mike and Servo, or Mike and Crow…

now, all they need is to get Mike, Bill, Trace, Joel, and Kevin to do a Rifftrax together, that’d be truly epic

of the two, the Mike and Bill X-Men Rifftrax had more nods to MST3K in it, two that especially spring to mind, in the opening of the movie, as the camera pushes into the door to Cerebro and the door opens, you hear Bill remark “this seems kinda’ familiar”

in the Wolverine Cage-Match, we get the following brilliant exchhange between Mike and Cro, err…Bill…

Mike; looks like Wolverine’s in a Thunderdome or something… <awkward pause>uhh…Bill…
Bill; Mike…
M; No bill…
B; Mike, can’t we get…Beyond Thunderdome?
M; <groans>

other highlights;
Magneto; Charles, let me make one request of you…
Mike; Don’t laugh when i put on the pointy wizard hat…

Prof. X is laying on a medical gurney, with medical sensors all over his skull
Bill; Crap, they’re turning me into a Borg again…

I’ve only checked out the matrix one so far, but it was hilarious. Eventually, I’ll probably get all of them.

If you get a chance, get the rifftrax for “Crossroads” which is really great. I would never have watched that Britney Spears vehicle (and I was surprised how dark parts of that movie were). It was worth the price and humiliation of renting the movie just to hear the K-Fed jokes.

Thanks for reminding me to check back with Rifftrax. I got Roadhouse, and loved it. I still chuckle over this exchange:

Waitress: If you need anything, I can get it for you.
Mike-as-Swayze: So, sausage casings, industrial diamonds . . .?

Since I own the other movies, I might have to head on over and download the Rifftrax right now.

Do they still use Disembodio? Cuz I have the extended LOTR too, and I’d need help re-syncing.

Yes, they still use Disembaudio, and i did try to keep LOTR DC synced up by skipping added scenes, but the extended scenes throw off the timing as well, you’d think they’d put a reminder on the website that the LOTR Rifftrax is for the theatrical release only…

As a bonus, the movie opens with Britney dancing around in her underwear.
