I do not think this means what you think it means.

Deplore; verb; 1. To regret deeply or strongly; lament
Hmmm. Nope. Doesn’t fit. Next!
to disapprove of; censure.
Really? Is this what you were aiming for? You disapprove of Brittany Murphy? In the PIT?
[sup]Sigh. Is it too much to ask for people to say what they mean?[/sup]
I agree that she played it well, and I’m sure any number of A-list actresses could’ve played it well, too. Heck, I think any number of B, C, and D actresses could’ve served it justice. I just don’t get why she’d take a role that was so skankific.
Because 8 Mile was predicted to be a huge success. And it was. I think a lot folks now know the name Britney Murphy because of it. Not everyone, but a lot more.
I get the distinct feeling that I’m getting wooshed, but just in case, Revtim is talking about Luanne Platter, the character that Brittany Murphy voices on King of the Hill.
She said in Cosmo that she has a “really high metabolism” but that she’d like to gain some weight. She was asked what she’d like to refute about herself and she said the rumors that she’s either anorexic or bulimic.
Um…I’m sorry, did nobody tell her that we all remember her from Clueless? Was she not aware that we have Done The Math? Hello! I’d like to meet the person whose metabolism magically speeds up after 20. (From natural causes, that is.)
Not to mention the article itself, directly beneath the quote, had a montage of pictures of her career, and in every one but the last two recent pics, she looked a good 20 lbs heavier than she is now. Hell, she was even featured in Cosmo (again!) a few months back, as one of the “proofs” in an article about how women in Hollywood have apparently lost 10/15 lbs they can’t afford to lose.
And yet for all our censure, her career has taken a more successful turn since she dropped the weight.
I liked Brittany Murphy in* Girl, Interrupted *and in Freeway. After seeing *8 mile * , I could not stand her. I think she’s toootally skanky and such a whore. Even when I see her in interviews I think…EWWW!! WHORE!
Her voice on King of the Hill drives both me and Mr. singular insane. It’s the worst part of an otherwise excellent show. And I can’t stand her “ain’t I cute and kooky and wacky” laugh-fingernails on the blackboard! She really worked this particular annoying gimmick in Bongwater.
And now she’s in a new movie, some heartwarming-feelgood piece of tripe about a spoiled rich kid becoming a nanny for a little girl. I saw a preview for it at Tomb Raider last night.
I can’t even remember the title – “The something Girls” I think. Can’t be saying I’ll see it. I probably wouldn’t have seen it anyway, but Ms. Murphy being in it just lowers the chances even more.
Luanne is the worst part of KOTH? Haven’t you forgotten a character named Peggy Hill?
Luanne’s accent used to be annoying to me back when the show first started. That was the same year I moved from Pennsylvania to Louisiana. I found that some peoples’ accents down here really grated on my nerves to the point where I’d actively try to avoid them. Now they just sound normal. And you know what? So does Luanne.
I guess I’m really out of touch…I just read her bio. and I haven’t watched any of the movies on her sheet. I guess I should change my name to clueless
I guess y’all are gonna tell me there’s someone here already with that name, huh?
