I slept with a hooker ...and I feel horrible

That’s an awful joke to make. Shame on you.

No, it isn’t at all funny. It is in fact the most offensive thing I’ve ever seen on the internet because way too many prostitutes meet their end that way.

Moderator, and you remove the above posts about killing. They really are that disturbing.

Oh, give me a break. It was her JOB. Most people don’t particularly like their jobs. Are you overly concerned with whether or not the postman really WANTS to walk all the way to your place to deliver your mail? Do you get your own soda refills when you’re at a restaurant because you dont want the waitress to feel used or overworked?
My take on it is this. Those girls who bitched about their jobs and missed the opportunity for a sale didn’t need the extra cash. They were probably already paid to come keep you all company and didn’t really feel like going the extra mile for a bigger tip.

However, if you’re having problems coping with your decisionmaking and inability to moderate alcohol consumption, please treat that as a seperate issue.

malkavia: I thank you for your compassion towards me, and prostitutes worldwide, who probably feel the same way about their jobs as postmen, because hey, after all, it’s only a JOB! Yeah, walking to deliver mail is pretty much the same as having sex with strangers you’re not particularly attracted to. I’m also sure that most postmen were forced into that job because of their financial situation. Yeah the one who bitched was stupid, and probably didn’t need the money for her children and it didn’t have anything to do with the fact that she hated all men.

Just because you lack the ability to empathize with other human beings, don’t assume others can’t. Do me a favor and never post in one of my threads again.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

This leaves us left to wonder why the hooker didn’t kill non-native.

Oh please. Most people period wouldn’t be doing their jobs if they didn’t need the money. If you’re defining ‘forced’ as ‘needed the money and decided to get it this way’, then anyone who isn’t doing their ideal job is ‘forced’ into it. That waitress probably wishes she didn’t have to do it. So does the cashier at the grocery store. Unless somone actually forced the woman into prostitution, the difference boils down to your feelings on the situation.

Judging from the poverty and job opportunities in this country, i wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of hookers here wished they were waitressing, or working as a cashier. Also debt is quite often what brings women into prostitution in the first place. A common tale is a runaway joins a brothel for food and shelter, and then spend the next few years paying them back. Why do they runaway in the first place? Maybe an abusive father, or something like that. Hell, maybe they threw you out of the house. You see, Guatemala doesn’t have the best programs for these kind of people. So quite often it’s not a choice, but the only way for survival. Also, you can’t support children with what you make from waitressing or whatever other jobs that doesn’t require an education. Especially here.

Honestly, who here wants to be a prostitute? Considered among the lowest people in society and paid to have sex with men they don’t know (who are sometimes abusive), can you think of a job more degrading?
Can’t i at least feel sorry for them without getting "oh please"s and "oh, give me a break"s?

I’ve known a few prostitutes, all of whom were in the business to feed their drug habits. It’s sad and I have a lot of sympathy for them. The reference to murder was not funny. Far too real. It’s easy to use labels like “hooker” or “crack whore” to dehumanize people and make cruel, unfunny jokes. But they are real human beings with real emotions who have already experienced more than their share of pain. They don’t need that kind of so-called humor to perpetuate and justify the cruelty they suffer as it is.

my $.02 worth,
TN*hippie

I find my job to be more degrading than that of a prostitute. I would love it if someone wanted to pay me for sex. $50 or $100 or $500 for doing something I want to do anyway? Score!

I think you need to understand that there are different strata of sex workers, just like there are different strata in any profession. Yes, there are those who are forced into it either by economic circumstances or force, but there are also women (and men) who freely choose to have sex for money, whether that be as a prostitute or a porn star. If they are happy with the choices they’ve made, who are you to decide that they are “being degraded” and “among the lowest people in society”?

Here’s a link to some information (looks to be something of a clearinghouse) about international sex workers and their struggle to organize for their rights.

Link removed.
**Otto, next time you post a link, make sure there’s no full frontal nudity on the first damn page. Or any of the other ones it links to. Sheesh.

Ok, and THIS was offensive.

I think I must have my funny-bone turned off, because these “jokes” just strike me as being incredibly tasteless. I guess that means I’m no fun.

I can not believe I’m the first person to do this:

native, you leave [insert name here]'s momma alone!

well, I laughed.

eh, i wouldn’t worry too much about it. we do stupid things when we’re drunk. i slept with a prostitute once in hungary just out of, well, curiosity and i was getting over an old flame. i looked in a phone book, called the agency, agreed on a price (something like thirty bucks) and said ok. i was really nervous…it was very, very unlike me. but on the otherhand, i was horny and didn’t feel like dealing with the crap of picking up some girl at the dance club.

long story short, it totally sucked. totally. it was not at all an enjoyable experience, mostly because she was so obviously wrong for this line of work. take that statement as you will. some sex workers are good at what they do. some aren’t. she kept on complaining on how cold it was and whether i was on drugs because i didn’t come as fast as she wanted me to.

anyhow, i felt really weirded out by this experience but, hey, it was just that…an experience. i think it’s pretty humorous in retrospect, so if i were you, i wouldn’t be too hard on myself. we all do stupid things every once in awhile. that’s life. i don’t feel guilty about what i did.
but i don’t think i’d do it again.

Pump Action Gerbil, that joke was WAY out of line. It’s also the last time you try a stunt like that on these message boards, understood?

And for the rest of you: you seem to be unable to carry on a polite conversation on the topic of prostitution. I don’t feel like naming each and every one of you - you know damn well who you are.

This thread is closed. Oh, and non-native?

That cracked me up. You don’t own the threads you start. Read the very bottom of the page.
