December what the fuck is your malfunction?
Why do you find it necessary to post off hand comments like this one.
I swear you pull this shit in every thread you post in. For the most part I try to ignore your post, but I’m just so fed up with these off hand potshots I want to scream.
If I had the inclination, I’d pull up more examples, but I don’t. It’s just getting real tiresome following a good debate when in rolls december to make one of his oft-repeated attacks as to how he thinks blacks should operate.
Typical exchange:
Poster A: We should spend more funds educating children.
Poster B: Well, that’s true but where do we find the money.
december “Well if the NAACP, would listen to me, they’d be pushing vouchers, that’s why I’m no longer a member.” Which is another thing entirely. If he’s to be believed, he’s been a cause celebre to human rights, having been a member of just about civil rights group in existence. Well that is until they changed their primary goal anyway
Good Golly Stuffy. That had to be the funniest Pit thread title I’ve read in ages.
It’s good having december around. He’s a such wonderful example of a “benevolent white man” type of prejudice. It’s instructive to all the lurkers.
I hope this doesn’t turn into one of those Black People are Evil and Scary thread.
Biggirl I debated using that “Black people are evil and scary” phrase you coined in the title, but didn’t know how to fit it in, glad you approve.
december: Your apology is accepted for forgetting I’m black, it doesn’t come up to often. But what I’d like to see is a cease to the pot-shotting (is that a word) I mentioned in the OP. I understand that you seem to feel strongly about the issue, but is it really necessary to pepper other threads with it? It’s also condensending in the extreme to presume that you know what’s best for black people. It’s old and tiring.
You’re right skydive, that’s teh normal interpretation. I used it as an example of his susposed caring for the black community that in reality masks his contempt for black political organizations.
Who cares what “Jugle Fever” is… I can’t get over how deeply december planted his foot in his mouth. That has got to the most classic ‘Own Goal’ I’ve ever seen in the Pit.
Stuffy is absolutely correct in calling December on his paternalist attitutde toward black people. I find it interesting that he has to wave his civil rights credentials to prove he’s not racists, yet every time he posts about black America, his posts drips a sort of “the white man knows best” attitude, as if Stuffy, Biggirl, and Juanita Tech should be grateful that the Great White Father has deigned to notice them. I’d be willing to bet that he probably annoyed the bejabbers out of the NAACP people he supposedly hobnobbed with back in the day.
December also seems to beleive that black America is one monolithic sector of U.S. society that speaks with one voice, like the a soul version of the Borg. but the reality is that the problems of a middle-aged business executive in Atlanta are not the same as an unemployed mother of three in Bedford-Stuyvesant, which in turn are not the same as those of a 20-year-old computer science student in DC.
But I thought Jungle Fever is also when a white man or a white woman falls for a black woman or a black man as well. At any rate, I think this thread is right on target as far as calling december out for his condescending, patronizing attitude towards blacks, and I suspect other minorities as well. december’s attitude is one of the most annoying and insulting things I see on this board, and that’s why I usually try to ignore his posts when I can. (I don’t always succeed though.) Hmphfff. As if he’s the expert on what’s best for the supposedly monolithic black community in America or anywhere else. Just ignorant, I tell you.
Well good lord. I come into this thread and see my name. Who outed me?
Admittedly, I don’t read december’s threads as I’m not really one of his biggest fans. Hence, I never noticed his attitude towards blacks.
I will say this though; I hate terms like ‘the black community’ or ‘a black leader (not a leader who’s black but a black person who ‘leads’ the ‘black community’)’ with a passion. Stop saying that. Unless you think there’s a ‘white community’ and there are ‘white leaders’, don’t use those terms, please.
As gobear stated, just because three people are black, doesn’t mean those three people are share the same experiences. Don’t presume you know what’s best for me just because I’m black and you’re white.
OK, now that I’ve gone completely off topic, I did read december’s post in the Nick thread. First, what did his sentence have to do with the price of tea in China? Second, what the hell is black on black crime and why do we need a TV show about it? It’s called crime, folks. I’ve never heard the term white on white crime and I’m willing to bet I’ll never hear of a TV show addressing that issue, either.
Great, now there’s two more!
What is this some kind of movement or something?
(I really hope you all realise that I am just kidding!)
Except of course for the part about not knowing my dear Stuffy is black.
We were just talking about this a few minutes ago.
That this is the one thing I love about this board. You get to know people here by their words not by shape, size or color.
Then you get people who come in here stirring things up.
And yes everyone has a right to their own oppinion but I just don’t understand why they have to instigate the turmoil.
