Crunchy Frog, we’ve never had occasion to address each other but I gotta tell ya, ya’ve given me a smile, or two. Happy to hear you’re gonna write; sounds like you’ve found the only real secret too – sitting down and doing it. Yep, writing’s easy. The real work is in the revisions.
Good luck to ya, Crunchy darlin’! I hope you don’t mind if I continue to secretly lust after you - I promise not to stalk you until you’re a famous author making the talk show rounds, living in a secluded country estate where no one will disturb us when you return from your road trip and I’m waiting on the front porch swing with cookies and lemonade…
uh, not that I’ve given it a lot of thought…
I’ll miss you!
Aw, Crunchy Frog…I’ll miss your posts too. Have a blast with your novel, sweetie! That’s a brave thing to do; I’ve done a little freelance writing (and plan on doing more). I sweat blood getting out 1500 words; can’t imagine writing a whole book.
Crunchy, you will definitely be missed. Hell, I think the “Halvsie” thread was the most fun I’ve ever had on the boards.
Though, your leave has somewhat inspired me…
What, to write a book? Hell, no. Just to e-mail you.
So, good luck with the book, Frog-man, and if you get an e-mail from a random person who’s attempting to be funny, but can’t get anywhere near your caliber, take pity, cause I need all the help I can get.
Just wanted to join the farewell wagon wishing you the best of luck. Your clever and witty posts were one of the things that really drew me to these boards. You obviously have a gift for writing, and I’m glad you’ll be using it.
And if you need a bitter and jaded copy editor, just let me know.
yadda yadda yadda yadda blowjob yadda yadda yadda…
May the keyboard rise up to meet your fingers and my the computer never crash before you’ve hit save.
I didn’t know you well, indeed, I never knew you at all - but if you win some huge literary award I’m telling all my friends I knew you before you hit it big.
Have fun with that novel writing thing. The sooner you get that nonsense out of your system the sooner you can get back to doing some real work.
I will miss you, Crunchy, but that’s a d@mn good reason to take time off.
And you’ve inspired me. I’ve had this pet project on hold myself, for the past ten years (writing a new operating system, since you’re dying to know). You’ve inspired me to, well, put it off a while longer and read more SDMB. Thanks!
Another one of my favorite posters is leaving… and people wonder why I’m reverting to lurkerdom.
Good luck Froggy! You’ll be doing what I’ve always wanted to do. I have over a dozen stories in the prep stage but never enough time to follow through. May you have better luck than I at the whole writer thing.
I have a confession. I’ve been lurking. For quite some time. In my wandering and reading I stumbled across the welcome wagon. I truly enjoyed your sense of humor. And ability to belittle and befriend at the same time. I just wanted to let you know that you’ve managed to hook me on the SDMB. It’s hard to come up with a reason to post for the first time, but I figured this might be a fitting tribute. To you sir - my first post.
Crunchy, in your honor, I am going to fly my flag at half-mast. That is, if I had a flag. And, I will wear a black arm band … if I were so inclined to find a black arm band. I will also take it upon my own shoulders to replace your wit on the sdmb … if that were possible.
First of all, many of you may be asking why I’m still here. Haven’t got my tax return today like I thought, that’s why. No return means no home computer. I’ll be leaving no later than Friday though, even if I have to dig out my piece of crap 15-year-old typewriter to get started.
**Clucky ** - Dude, I’m not dead or dying or leaving for good. I just want to get this book rolling, then I’ll be back.
yojimbo - I have to go for good for a while because I have no will power and I’ll be tempted to post if I come back. Look at my post count. 90% of that was done during slow work hours. Imagine if I’d been writing during all that time. I’d have a first or second draft done by now.
Eve - it hadn’t occurred to me to put Halvsie in the book. He’s gonna be in there now!
