I used to rock n roll all night and party everyday....

“Then it was every other day…” I can’t get that quote out of my head, but I can’t finish it and I can’t remember who said it. Please help my memory.

Someone else posted this one recently. Not sure if it’s exact but here’s the gist of Homer’s lament.

…Then it was only every other day, now I’m lucky if I can find half an hour a week in which to get funky

Isn’t that from a song by the fabulous farded rockmeisters from Kiss?

Just the “I wanna rock and roll all night, and party every day” part.

“I used to be with it, but then they changed what “it” was. Now, what I’m with isn’t it, and what’s “it” seems weird and scary to me.”

Gotta love Grandpa.

It’ll happen to you…

No way man! We’re gonna keep on rockin’ forever! forever! forever! forever!

Wow, I never thought I’d get to do this anyplace besides alt.tv.simpsons!

Just to hit the point home, Homer Simpson said it while lamenting his lost “coolness” in the Hullabalooza episode.

Ah, Hullabalooza!

I love the part when Homer Simpson is talking to the Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan: “Thanks to your gloomy music, my children have stopped dreaming of a future I can’t possibly hope to provide.”

“Depressing teenagers is like shooting fish in a barrel.” Good episode, that.

That quote used to be my sig. Back before I decided sigs are annoying.

“Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins”
“Homer Simpson, smiling politely”

Have you noticed that in the re-runs they’ve edited out Otto’s talking shoes?

But Lisa still trips when she drinks the pool water.

Hmph.

Thanks, Padeye. That’s close enough.

SoMoMom,

Do you live in the NY area? If so, maybe it’s from the radio. Q-104.3 had a promotion a while back that featured just the part of the Homer quote that you mentioned. I could see that getting stuck in someone’s head. . .

“I used to rock and roll all night, and party ev-er-y day. Then it was every other day. Now I’m lucky if I can get funky once a week.” I think is how it goes.

And SoMoMom is from SoMo.

Ah, Missouri. How about that “profile” thing? What novel idea!

Alright, if you must know, we were going to see KISS this weekend and I had a feeling we would be a little exhausted (late night, hot weather, etc.) the day after so I couldn’t quit thinking of it.

As it turned out even though Skid Row sucked… They sucked, sucked, sucked, sucked. I couldn’t get my ear plugs in fast enough when they came on. So I just did my polite applause and didn’t waste any energy on them. Ted Nugent was even more mediocre than the last time I saw him so no energy was expended there. But I actually had to sit down in the middle of KISS’s performance because they make the audience work the whole time. And those seats at the ampitheatre are none too easy to stand on either. Am I complaining? Well, not about having a show so good that I didn’t get a break in the cheering and dancing for 2 solid hours. About Skid Row sucking and Ted Nugent being an asshole, I am.

Anyway, to get back to the point, the quote was more appropriate than I even imagined before. Maybe I should change my sig.

Let me get this straight - you’re a mother and you went to see a Skid Row / Ted Nugent / Kiss concert?

Way to go SoMoMom! I hope you will buy your child(ren) a drum set for their 10th birthday so they can learn those heavy metal drum solos.

Um, yeah. There were even grandmas at the concert. They were there with their grandchildren.

There were LOTS of children at that concert. I refused to bring mine though. Got my kids some kid-sized T-shirts though.

Okay, okay. I’ll admit I really wanted to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers with (especially) the Foo Fighters (I love them) when they were here, but THAT audience I was afraid of.

There are already two drummers in the family (nephews). I don’t know if we need any more.
