I wanna get creeped out! Tell me some creepy stuff!

::grin::

Yep, I’m insane, and pyschotic. I SWEAR there was a post on this board that led to www dot dionaea-house dot com, with someone talking about how creepy it was. I don’t see that post anymore… Creeepy! I had to go to my browsing history for yesterday to find it. (url broken according to board rules)

Still creeps me out.

Okay, well, there goes most of the day when I was supposed to be getting something done at work. :slight_smile: That Holders series was creepy. Still not finished–got a few more to go.

Couldn’t help thinking what an incredibly cool novel series (or RPG) that could make, in the right hands.

Sci-Fi could probably do an interesting take on it. They’ve already got The Lost Room and Warehouse 23, which are much more benign takes on magical objects.

You know what this website reminds me of? That Stephen King short story… I think it is 1408.
‘‘My brother was actually eaten by wolves one winter on the Connecticut Turnpike.’’ Completely meaningless and completely creepy. It’s like the haunted hotel room started a blog.

ETA: For those who’ve never read this short story, you want creepy?
Here’s your creepy.

I take it everyone here knows about the Spike Shadow?

This is interesting stuff and, unlike many things on this page, it can be verified. I’ll explain the idea, in brief.

The earliest reports of what came to be known as the Spike Shadow Man or, simply, the Spike Shadow, seem to date from the late 1950s. At that time, there were several mysterious homicides reported. The mystery surrounds the precise manner in which these various people had met their demise. It seemed that in each case, the victim was sitting alone and must have been attacked from behind, without even knowing their attacker was even near by. It seems the victims were killed by a single, exceptionally sharp rapier or ‘spike’ that had been thrust deep into the victim’s skull at the base of the neck, killing them more or less instantly. There were no signs of any struggle or resistance, suggesting this had happened without warning.

Then one or two reports came in of people who had narrowly escaped being killed in this way. Their reports were eerily similar. In each case, they had been sitting at home alone, and had no idea that an assailant was in the house. Then, out of the corner of their eye, they had seen what could only be described as a fast, dark, moving shadow that had suddenly, with great speed, approached the back of their neck, only to retreat and vanish when they turned round. It seems these few had been the lucky ones who had narrowly escaped this mysterious, silent attacker, the Spiked Shadow.

Except it wasn’t a long time ago.

It was now.

And he attacks people as they sit in darkened rooms with shadows nearby, staring at their bright computer screens, imagining they are perfectly alone…

Sure it wasn’t “to the loo”? That would explain the paper in their hand.

And I’m sitting here thinking, ‘‘Hmm, quick and painless. Could be worse.’’

Cool! I wanna see those!
ETA: What’s creepy is that, according to my brother, said giant earthworms have been Rule 34’d…

:brain bleach:

…the thing wearing Mommy’s skin…

Three things in my life have made my hair stand up. That was one of them.
<shudder>
Yeah, thanks.

Hey, you knew what you were getting into when you read the thread title. :smiley:

Your college loans will be with you for 25 years.

:eek::eek::eek: :: hair turns white, faints ::

A classic thread, Very Vaguely Creepy.

I’m pretty sure everything has been Rule 34’d at this point. :wink: How’s that for creepy?

I never heard of “rule 34” before today, but I know the concept was invented decades* ago. By the Japanese.

*ETA: If not centuries. Don’t believe me? Do a google image search for “octopus shunga”. Perhaps quite relevant to the current thread topic, but you might wanna sort of angle your monitor away from your coworkers first.

Can someone clue me in on “rule 34”?

Rule 34: If it exists, there is porn of it.

It boils down to something like “if it exists, there is porn of it.” I’m assuming the rule also extends to “if you can think of something” and porn meaning written, photoshopped, etc., not just photos.

Me, too. It wasn’t a very good morning.

I’m okay though and I’m seeing a counselor this evening.

On reflection, this in itself can be more than creepy.
