I hope you guys don’t mind, but seeing as they’re on the web anyway…
So if I were to want to create a page with pictures culled from this thread, what would be the ethics behind it? I’d just want to do like my page linked below, just with the pictures and SDMB names underneath. The names could even be hyperlinks to each person’s website the pic was from. Would anyone object to that? Would I need to email each person and ask for permission?
From the internet law & ethics dept (aka the Wild West):
- You’d have to get permission from the copyright holder (i.e. The parents of the above mentioned person)
- Morphing, editing, enlarging or shrinking any body parts of the subject, without his/her/their sole permission is considered very poor taste.
I think that’s a neat idea. Although, I would have to transfer the 2 pics that I submitted to another site. Because I have them temporarly “parked” on my auction image site.
