I appreciate these threads, and I think they allow us all to get valuable windows on how other people think that we would rarely, if ever, have otherwise. It takes a lot of bravery to open yourself up like this, and I just want to express my appreciation of the information exchange opportunities these threads afford.
Thanks. I like to think my “Ask the guy who knows little about Puff Daddy” thread really cleared up some misconceptions.
I’ve held off on starting an “Ask The Guy That Would Slaughter Everyone And Feast On Their Entrails If He Had Half The Chance, You Pathetic Puny Mortals” thread, mostly because it wouldn’t fit in the thread title.
It know it took a lot of courage for you to start that thread, and we are all in your debt.
I wonder if I should start an “Ask the 15-year-old Torontonian-Korean girl” thread. I don’t really see any point in doing that, though…
I’ve kind of wanted to start one, but I’m not really anything worth asking things, you know? It would be like… Ask The 17-Year-Old Kid. Or maybe Ask The Atheist, but I wouldn’t really have very interesting answers in any case.
I really liked the Ask The Terrible Advice Fairy thread, where dopers with problems got terrible advice.
I considered naming one of my coming out threads “Ask the Korean Transsexual Lesbian”, but that would have been a bit undignified, and they kinda turned into that anyway.
I read your thread but I was disappointed because you seemed to know more about Puff Daddy than I did. Granted, you did say you knew “little” about puff daddy but I always take that to mean “not jack shit”. For instance, I never tell anyone that I know nothing about a subject. Instead, someone can ask me, “Do you know how to build a nuclear reactor?” and I would reply, “A little.” I always assumed that Puff Daddy was that dragon’s father but it looked like you were way past that level.
At one point about a year ago, somebody suggested that I start a “Ask the Liberal Christian” sort of thread – now I’m kind of glad I didn’t! They’ve turned into a parody of what the original intent was.
I’m waiting for an “Ask the Moderator Who’s Thoroughly Tired of ‘Ask the…’ Threads” thread.
I think my “Ask the DDR player” or something like that got a full 20 responses.
Actually Polycarp, I think some of them are getting back to their original intent – getting accurate information across from someone in the know. I know I’ve been very uncertain about starting the “Ask the Ismaili Muslim” thread that I have started, and its taken a lot of persuasion from others to get me to start it, but I am glad I’ve started it, it gives me a chance to clear up many of the misconceptions that people have.
They can be interesting, but holy cow, it’s like nobody has anything original to post here anymore other than “Ask me a question.”
Let’s space it out, people.
So you think I should wait before starting the “Ask a flodnak” thread?
