I weigh the same now as I did in high school!

Like the thread title says, I am now back at the weight I was when I finished high school! This does make me wonder just how much clothing sizes have changed–then I wore a size 12, now I wear a size 6. (And all those who think I should have lost weight without having gastric bypass surgery, they can kiss my now scrawny ass :D)

Congrats! I’m five pounds over what I was in High School, but, at 41, I’m pretty proud of myself.

Great job! How long did it take?

I weigh less then I did in highschool. I was a chubby teen!

Hurrah for you! I don’t think it matters how you did it…you took matters into your own hands, risked your life to become healthy and GOOD for YOU!

Consequently, I had the same surgery four years ago. Over the weekend, I put on this hideous jumpsuit I sewed for myself when I was in high school. It’s too big. So it’s not just that I’m a similar weight and “taking up more space” due to having a higher body fat percentage.

And yes, size inflation is a bit annoying. I’m 5’4" and weigh between 128 and 132 pounds consistently. That is absolutely normal sized and not teeny tiny. Yet, there are certain clothing stores that often don’t have stuff left that’s small enough to fit me. After getting past the initial “Whooppee, I’m small!” I find myself annoyed at this. Why do I care if my tag says “8” or “4”? I’m the same size no matter what my clothing tells me, so can’t they just standardize this? If I wear a “small” or a size 4, what is my 105 pound sister supposed to wear?

One of my favorite stores, Ann Taylor, just moved all their sizes up one so that what used to be a 4 is now a 2. I think if you look at sewing patterns they have maintained the same proportions for a very long time. If I was going to sew it myself, I’d have to make the 10 or 12.

And if anyone gives you crap about the bypass, they can kiss MY scrawny ass too! People just don’t understand what a difficult decision it is. If you could have done it without intervention, you absolutely would have (this is the thinking that made me finally decide on surgery). I’m glad you came through it healthy and had success!

Every year on the anniversary of my surgery I threaten to throw a “diet party” and serve carrot sticks and make everyone do aerobics. Heh. Maybe you should do that now!
