I Won the Edgar!

Congrats, Uke! Your feeling of satisfaction will carry you through the lean weeks ahead. That, and those John Thorne recipes using beans, rice, and lard.

I think you should apply for a position as an editor/chef with some tony outfit. The combo might prove to be iresistible. Give 'em food for thought and food.

If all else fails, come on back to Northern Ohio. I’ll blow you to a Swenson’s cheesburger and shake first night out.

Now to think…I recall - that this guy is the only fella I didn’t cross paths with at the last NYC brew-haha. I mean, sheite, what’s a complete dopefest experience when you don’t end up running into a freak named "Ukelele Ike!"

ANyway, I’m gonna mosey on up to the upcoming fest … next week or so. Heh, hopefully we’ll meet this time.

& congrads on helping Mr. Lansdale hit the upper ladder rungs. Now you sell yourself into a good slot of pay or I’m gonna have to take the A Train and kick some butt in Tin Pan Alley*!*

Congratulations, Ike!

Best Line of the last 20 years of MWA Banquets goes to Lynn Block, lovely spouse of esteemed crime writer Lawrence Block, shortly after Larry DIDN’T win an Edgar he’d been nominated for…

Sympathetic Friend: Don’t sweat it, Larry…it’s only a fifteen-dollar head.

Lynn: Yeah, and when we get home, he’s gonna get some two-hundred dollar head.

Thanks again to y’all who posted over the last two days…I was away in Washington, DC, at a mystery writers’ conference, schmoozing and dishing out business cards to anyone who might need a freelance editor.

I can do that. And, and, when clients come by, I can break out the ol’ top-hat and cane, and soften 'em up with a little physical comedy, maybe some soft-shoe, and then you guys can finish ‘em off with the ol’ experience/mascara one-two punch. And then, when they’re out, I’ll rifle through their pockets and buy the coffee with whatever I get off 'em.

I’ll fax over my resume.
